Tips For Making Stock Refinishing Super Easy, Yet Like A Pro Did It

If you're going to take the time to refinish your gunstock sanded buffet do everything to make it look beautiful, then research the proper staining and finishing methods used by gunsmiths. You're not gonna find them telling you to use polyurethane.

If you want to know why, Google polyurethane peeling in sunlight.

The polyurethanes of 1980s and what they have on the market today are significantly different, but I'm happy to wait for a picture or a link or anything to prove otherwise.

Finishing wood is a skill. Finishing wood gunstocks in an art. I wouldn't try and reinvent the wheel, and use the volumes of gunsmith materials to get the best results possible.

Ya know, he was just trying to put out some info for people to try themselves. Then you come along with your sun baked brain and bash what he is saying like you are the wood guru. Very distasteful. We know that your brain is baked because there are no true cedars in Arizona, just Junipers.

did i miss the picture?

I posted a link to photobucket (couldn't figure out single pics)

The first three are the 597 I did, there is another 597 that I did with a duller finish, the target is the 597 that I shot sighting it in, three groups of three for zero, three groups of five, not a single shot of 24 that wouldn't be covered with a dime at 40 yards.

And I think you would agree that this wipe on poly gives up very nice results, far better than the factory finish ever thought of being. By the way, I refinished brand new rifles because I knew I could do a way better finish, plus I contoured the grip with a bit of a swell to fit my hand better.

The pics aren't on this response but are up a couple.
