Tips on turkey hunting

I'm not sure if this is appropriate, but I sell calls for a company called Fear Not Game Calls www.fearnotcalls.com. Troy Starr is the owner, and he does make some awesome turkey calls. I personally use many of his mouth calls with great success. I also have a lot of luck using the Fear Not Flipper, whis is a double sided glass and slate call.

(15 acres)
First try and get in a spot to locate them on the roost. if you live on the property and it's 15 acres you back stoop will be fine, If you don't live on it then just stop on the side of the road and see if you hear them flying up at night or down in the morning. 15 Acers that is holding turkey is all you need,
just get between where they are and where they wont to go!

as far as loads
I like 3'' 4 x 6 loads out of a 12gage
pattern your gun , know it's limitation.
aim and shoot for the middle of his neck ,, this why he eats the how load /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

camo the same you use for predators is fine.
brake up you out line ether with camo or sitting agents something wider then you.
keep the sun out of your eyes.
as far as calls,
if you have a box call and if you can use it, it's all you need, if you don't then a good friction call like a good old slate, they are also easy to use , I like CODY SLATE CALLS if you been practicing with you calls then hit them with a fly down, then 2 sets of 4 to 6 yelps then wait.
if you haven't been practicing then just hit them with some purr's and puts from a slate at first light..
you cant go wrong with just purring and putting,
to make a purr on a slate just take the call between your thumb and index finger of one hand and take you striker in the other hand and put it to the slate at a 45 and drag it along for about 1/2 inch to you get a purring sound then after you got the purr down just end it with to puts.. to make a put just put your striker on the slate and strike it like if you where striking a wooden match .
so it would sound like this purr purr pop pop this is the most deadly sound for killing birds that have gobbled back, it's all you need to do.
I will always find myself having a conversation with the birds but when they get near it's nothing but purring and putting then the shot

once they gobble don't over call , relax and let them come.
if you get challenge by a hen copy her sound just you be more aggressive.
she starts to cluck you jump right on her with a more aggressive set of clucks

most impotent thing is be confident!!!!!
you don't need to sound like me or anyone else, just get the rhythm and keep it .

enjoy the experience and be safe.

hope to see photos
