To build or just buy a cz for a 17 remington?

Oh sure...leave me out!

Tim, I wonder which McMillan colors would go with this...

I mean, how hard is it to set on your butt watching TV while occasionally pecking away on a lap-top?

I think we should start an alliance (like red-neck island smile ) and start telling everyone what usless dogs the 17's are so there's less competion for components. Maybe we could get Rusty to join in. He can be the Mayor.

This is just between you and me, so Mum's the word.

PS,,, K_V_V,,, you're in too, but don't tell anyone else.

My suspicions is that could be one of the underlining problems with the US. Lap-top heck Charlie, Ipod or one of those "carry it at all times devices" cause ya never know who might call, text, or send you a photo with the latest gossip news.

I'm in Charlie. A poke in the eye with a sharp stick is better than shootin' one of them feeble 17's. I think they should add any 17 caliber rifle to the gobermint gun ban. They're very unpredictable, why any 1/2mph crosswind will blow them off target by 15' or more. A real danger to any bush or sapling. Besides, Wally World doesn't carry any boolits for em.

Right, include them in the government ban, that will give the drug cartels a greater selection of things they can smuggle in to sell at over inflated prices.

Digging? How is asking what you based your decision on digging? We all don't have the advantage of family or friends to turn to for help in deciding what firearms or calibers to go with.Back when I got started book's and magazines were all I had.If you again choose to interpret this as digging or spin so be it.I'd appreciate it if you end the snotty arrogant remarks.

Try to keep up Bernie. The "digging" I'm referring to is the hole you're "digging" for your self.

The fact is, at no time did you qualify your sage wisdom (which was off topic to start with) regarding the 17Rem as being prone to fouling, wind drift, and various other ailments by saying you were only repeating what you'd read or heard until asked several times by several posters.

To play the martyr at this point is not only laughable but tiring, so you can keep playing your word games if you like but you'll have to do it without me.

Happy New Year Bernie

When does the boat leave? I know what gun I'll be bringing!

BernieP just because you don't have friends or family to expose you to the truth about the 17s doesn't mean you can't benefit from the influences of the guys on this forum, isn't that right Tim!
Btw I have been doing my own 17/204 planning. Mines not quite as well planned as yours though! Switch barrel savage is my intended route.

Well that's it right there isn't it.What you all write here about your hands on experience is gospel but what my sources wrote about their hands on experience is pure crap.Anyway I'm done with it to.
Happy New Year!

Bernie I am not saying that those writer's experiences were wrong, just antiquated. We all know that compenents change. Barrels are better than ever eben on factory models. Advances have been made in the land of the 17 since the 1970's. Unfortunately their publications don't always reflect those changes. That's why I would trust the experiences of a myriad of 17 users as wel as my own personal experience over what is written in one publication. Just cause it's in print doesn't make it gospel. Nor can you solely rely on what is published on the net. Just my .02
Happy New Year to all!

I just loaded up some of that yesterday with a few of my stashed Calhoon 25 grain slugs. I loaded up 5 each of 22.5, 23, 23.5, and 24 grains of 8208. Are any of those what you have found to be a good load for you or do you have one that you would like to share with us? It has been too cold here lately to get to the range but I have them packed away in my gear waiting for the next warm day so that I can try them.

I am very fond of 23.5 grains of Varget with the 20 grain Vmax but I have a few hundred of these no longer made Calhoon bullets and would like to get some use out them.

23.9gr. of 8208 is what my Kimber 17 Rem. likes. This is with Rem brass, Rem 7 1/2 primer and 25gr. T000 Nagels. It is a very accurate load in mine. So you pretty darn close with those loads. My Kimber likes the upper end of the book load with every load I've ever tried in it.

Okeedoak. Preshate the information.

I picked up 750 those Calhoons at a gun show a few years back for cheap. They were all moly coated but I do not run moly though my guns so I wipe it all off before loading.

I really would like to find a good load for these bullets for use on prairie dogs. I have killed them over 450 yards with the 20 grain Vmax but at that distance it more pokes holes than blows them up.

CZ said the 527 17 Remington will not be produced in 2013 nor 2014. So if you want one, better hurry up. A smaller distributer back east had 14 in inventory last month. I know they have one less now!

Great....put the pressure on me...been wanting another for awhile now.....eyeing the CZ 527 varmint .17REM....I would really prefer a sporter barrel,but...may have to make do.

Now which gun to sell to get the CZ >>...? Yes...not really an option at this point.

I have everything but the gun and reloader at this point....even empty brass ...might as well jump back into the greatest fur round again.
