Too many greyhounds

And there is the difference. You have a differing opinion and that's ok. However your opinion isn't necessarily a fact for anyone else.

Legal to have dogs kill other dogs (coyotes) but illegal to have dog fights?? Would it be legal to have coyote fights if coyotes are legal to own?? Dan

Saying running hounds across private land you dont have permission on cuz that's how we do it is like saying it's ok to steal because you like selling things second hand. Show me the post that said running hounds on private land without permission is ok. I don't think anyone agrees with that. Here's some more hypocrisy for ya : Guy moves to a new area in July and thinks he is going to have the run of all the private land because he is going to get sole permission on it. But come winter he finds out locals have been hunting it with permission for generations also. Oh and by the way, they are pretty good at killing way too many making his dream of calling in coyotes on every stand impossible. My guess is you have no idea who has permission where. Where I am from, a farmer usually gives permission to more than one person. And most don't put up with repeated trespassing for very long. I doubt the ranchers in your area do either.
Maybe you should thank the hound runners for killing all the educated coyotes you can't and making room for more dumb ones next season.

GC, exactly. I never said it wasnt my opinion, never said I was the governor and gonna ban anything. I pointed out an eye witessed behavior from some unsavories, and repeatedly said my observation and a hypothesis regarding a certain coyote behavior and its cause. And offered a solution to balance the possible causes not ban anything.
Iowa, nice assumption but you know what happens when you assume....so let's try facts on for size, guy has hunted coyote from PA to AK over the last twenty years and isnt the niave optimist you claim thinking he is gonna "get one every stand", moves to ok for a job knowing the state is some where around 4% public land and calling is going to be even more challenging because of topography, population density, and vegetation. Never has liked living somewhere he has to ask permission to hunt but does it anyway to enjoy his sport and get his daughters involved. Asks permission a bunch of places and notices a trend. Says on a forum hes frustrated and it gets blown out of proportion. Didnt even originally post bad things he saw because he figures it's just bad apples until the excuses start flowing. Doesnt blame the ranchers for letting hound runners have permission because he grew up on a cattle ranch and knows what one calf lost does. Offers a possible course of action to a perceived inbalance that isnt popular. Heck the only thing you got right is I dont know to whom permission was given to where and I dont plan on trying. For one, because the gentleman at the co-op told me a lot of land is owned by BIA, schools, and other entities not co-located with said land which makes trespassing much easier I would suspect. I know my boss lives next to a section leased from schools where the lessee forbids hunting, yet he sees hounds on it. Since I'm just a dumb new guy I can only manage a 50/50 guess and figure they either have permission or they dont, but leaning toward dont from his reported interaction. I been around the world enough to know just because something has been done a certain way forever doesnt automatically make it right, nor is everything wrong. And I find it very frustrating in 2019 to hear that same excuse used by hypocrits that was used to justify things like, racism, womens suffrage, etc. If that was the legal catch all get out of jail free justification for behavior where would we be today? I'm also big enough to admit that sometimes getting a fresh look from a new person can point out areas that need changing/modifying/improving insert appropriate ______ ing word, and I've been that new guy and been educated by the new guy numerous times throughout my career. Either way, I'm not losing any sleep from anyone disagreeing, nor trying to effect any change, really just trying to get my woodshop cleaned so I can go calling tomorrow....in the end the only things I'm certain of is I can figure out on my own who I need to thank, politicians lie, I dont have to make excuses for my hunting methods, opinions are priceless to the originator while simultaneously worthless to everyone else......and ford trucks are best. Yall have good luck and be safe I'm off this thread and on to new topics.

In Colorado you can have running dogs, however, the dogs cannot legally kill the Coyotes. You have to do the killing.
