Well, after some more camo flaking off and another year of hunting with the Remington R15 in the winter only under the moon I gave it a "Snow White" krylon treatment.
I taped it off good and hung it in the heated garage nice and neat.
Next I used PVC cleaner and a rag. I was surprised at how easily it stripped the factory Remmy dipped camo off and was not expecting that to happen. But at this point, I couldn't complain as that was best for painting anyways.
Once all cleaned and ready, I gave it the full on white Krylon treatment.
Turned out pretty good. I prefer pure white to the "snow camo" versions for night hunting and even in the day. Plus, once the painted gets nicked or chips it will make a "self snow camo" look.
Blends in great eh?! We had snow on the December moon and I can only hope we get more by January's moon.
Hopefully the next shot will look like this but white:
