Took the plunge - - "Snow White" in Krylon

Well, after some more camo flaking off and another year of hunting with the Remington R15 in the winter only under the moon I gave it a "Snow White" krylon treatment.

I taped it off good and hung it in the heated garage nice and neat.

Next I used PVC cleaner and a rag. I was surprised at how easily it stripped the factory Remmy dipped camo off and was not expecting that to happen. But at this point, I couldn't complain as that was best for painting anyways.

Once all cleaned and ready, I gave it the full on white Krylon treatment.

Turned out pretty good. I prefer pure white to the "snow camo" versions for night hunting and even in the day. Plus, once the painted gets nicked or chips it will make a "self snow camo" look.

Blends in great eh?! We had snow on the December moon and I can only hope we get more by January's moon.

Hopefully the next shot will look like this but white:

I did and did not block it off because I didn't care. It should be easy to stuff a rag in there though as mine is open on the end where the barrel comes out.

ok, I'm slowly, slowly "getting the urge" to attempt this, but I'll be honest, "I'm Scared sheitless!"

I also have a stainless barrel to work around..

I can't bring myself to do this to mine!! I'm opting to use the McNett's camo wrap instead. That way, I can use snow camo when there's snow, and regular camo without snow.

Yours does look good though!

Looks good.

If I may make a suggestion, this is exactly why I like Duracoat so much. You put on a base color of Duracoat you like, let it cure well, and the entire Krylon paint line becomes bowflauge.

I did my 870 in OD green, and krylon over it for the season. Wipe it down with thinner and a rag it comes right off. My AR's next when I have to re-barrel them again.

Looks great,BBsteel.
I cleaned mine with brake cleaner and the hardest part was the first spray. After that it was easy. I use mine almost exclusively during the winter with snow on the ground and at night so it just made sense to paint it. Plus, I think it looks cool and the paint makes it shoot much tighter groups

I've got a stainless barrell on mine and just taped it off and pushed paper towels between the tube and barrell to keep the paint out. Can't wait to see some pics with the new white coat.
