totally custom AR 15 barrels??

I am wondering who out there is doing a good job at making a totally custom AR 15 barrel. I know there are plenty of companies out there selling drop in barrels. besides hart barrels I don't know of anyone that takes a blank and makes it whatever contour etc you want. For instance everything out there is pretty fast twist rate. I don't shoot anything over 55 grains typically. I wonder what a 12 twist barrel that is cut rifled would do in an AR 15.

The same thing a good cut rifling 8-9-10 twist would do.

Just get a BHW and forget about the rest...IME

The better question would be "What can the 12 tw do that an 8 tw cant?"

I don't understand the fascination with slow twist barrels anymore, specially on an ar15. And the difference between cut rifling and the type that bhw uses, I don't believe you can tell the difference. If anything a faster twist might add more splat factor with the higher bullet rpm when it contacts the critter. I think it's because guys have so many rifles they just think they might need a different twist rate now. And there is nothing wrong with that, but if you want to sell it later, more people prefer faster twist barrels. Not even sure where you find 12 or 14 twist ar15 barrels for .223? What contour are you looking for anyway?

Hart was the only one that would make a .204 Ruger AR barrel that I wanted. John at White Oak said I have to buy 10 or 12 for a "custom contour".

I didn't realize the OP asked for it to be cut rifled only. Me? I don't know and don't care. All I know is, their barrels were supposed to be fantastic shooters. Mine is.

I had one years ago and it was a shooter.

I had Krieger do a .204 barrel and sent it to White Oak to contour and flute, Granted it isn't the cheapest option I have probably $650.00 in the barrel alone.

I had a custom Krieger barrel built to my specs (16" 1:8 medium contour, fluted, duracoated, threaded) at Compass Lake Engineering. Haven't shot it yet but if it's anything like my 20" Krieger it'll be a tack driver. Highly recommend CLE. Great customer service.

I talked to Dtech about turning the Kreiger blank but he was quite back logged and he suggested White Oak and they did a sweet job on it.
