Starting to look at collars. Roxi is almost 4 months old now and is doing great. Currently looking at the Tri-Tonics. I would value y'alls recommendations.

Thanks,
Carl

i have had tri tonics and dogtras, i have the dogtra now and really like it, the range is good and i like that the remote is small and will just clip to you pocket, but i never had problems with the tri either, not sure the # on the dogtra but i could look if you want, ryan

Have the tritronics trashbreaker and love it. Have not had a dogtra so do not know about them. They do look a bit less expensive. D

I use the TriTronics and like them.
Can't say about the others, but I do recomend getting one with the tone function. If ya plan on getting more dogs then the ability to add a collar is something to think about too.

The TrashBreaker that Dasher has is pretty popular as is the sport 70. The sport 70 doesn't have the distance the TrashBreaker has, but I question correcting a dog when it's a mile or more from ya anyway. JMO I'm sure either would serve you well.

These guys are having some pretty good sales on the TriTronics units right now

i run tri tronics
i have heard good things about the dogtra, but i am just happy with tri tronics,i also like the new tracer light(extra 40 bucks)i need to get three of them but in the mean time i run tracker lights on the tritronics color, can see for a long way off.they are brighter than the tritronics tracer but only 20 bucks also.

duane your right about the trash breaker, that was all i was ever around till i got the dogtra, both great collars i just like the smaller remote that clips to your belt or pocket, i already need a shopping cart to haul all the stuff i need so the smaller remote helps, the good thing about the tri remote is it is heavy enough to be used as a club if you need to fight one of devins blind dogs off of you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif, ryan

tri-tronics, AMERICAN MADE, good service, and reliable. I've had a couple other models and been around all most all of them at one time or another. I'll take my tri-tronics over the rest any day, espaically in a rain storm, were you get wet were the sun don't shine [not planed].

I also have a TriTronics. Kinda pricey, but worth the money. I sent an older unit back for repairs, and the sent me a brand new model for free. Great customer service.

ive ran tri-tronics for almost 10 years now with no issues... my new setup is the new tritronics classic 70 g3 with 3 collars for now(it will take up to 6)... ive never once had an issue with any of the collars ive had so i cant see switching brands now... and like someone else said... the tracer lights are super nice... i run them on my beagles and love them.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I have it narrowed down to either a Tri Classic, Dogtra 1800, or Sportdog 1825.

Thanks again,
Carl

I had a sport dog and returned it JUNK. I would highly reccomend the tri tronics basic 3. Works great every where even in thick cover, and you can run 3 dogs off of it. Great distance

hitman, i think its as good as the trash breaker, but i rarely use mine over 1/2 mile, i just dont need to use it that far but when i have its worked fine. the guys that i hog hunt with in okla say in the brush theirs are working better then the trash breaker, and they hunt in thick stuff and hunt alot so they should know, in my experience and how i use them they have been the same, i only changed cause of the remote. mines a 3502 super x, its got the vibrater instead of the tone, i dont like that, i wish it had the tone, but its a good set up for me, ryan

I had a dogtra, and a sport dog.On my decoy dogs any of them worked well enough, but on my young hounds, I like the range of the Tritronics.Nothin worse than havin a pup leave the country chasin elk, and not have the range to juice them. The Tri tronics is the only one I will use any more, but the others are good enough for many applications.
As for the control, I just strap an extra holster on the belt of my back, and pack my handset in it. I don't notice the weight, and its right handy. I haved used this system for 3 years.

I've been using a SportDog 1800 for the last 15 months on my Airedale. ZERO problems (until the mini-schnauzer puppy ate the charger wires in two. No, it wasn't plugged in!)
Use my Airdeale for coyote calling and general obedience on our proerty. I can stop her at the property line when she zeroes in on a neighbors dog or a horse and rider going by. I'm sold on the SportDog 1800 and would buy the 1825 in a minute....
