I'm going to start trapping again this fall in Pa. for the first time in 20years since I was a kid. I used to trap coon with a lure and tuna fish. I am not sure where to start with buying lures for this year. I will be after coon ,fox, and coyote and mink since I saw 3 this spring turkey hunting. Any help getting started would be appreciated. Thanks gbsa

I can't believe some of our trappers didn't respond to you yet, GBSA.
I won't be of much help not being a trapper but myself, but check out our search function located in the upper right hand corner of the forum. Do a search on lures and check out some of the previous related posts. See if it helps you out a little. Limit your search to the Trapping & Fur Handling forum, it'll speed things up for ya. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Check out In Heat Scents. ... excellent product, service and a nice guy to deal with. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sardines work for most anything. However, if you are using land sets, you will get a lot of opposums, skunks. If you are after coons, this is the best bait IMO. Use water sets, and you won't have a problems catching anything other than coons. Grey fox urine has worked will for me on both reds and greys as well as skunks and other things I was not really after. When using dirt hole sets, rabbit works real well. I will pick up road kills or kill a couple and mainly just use the skin/fur. It does not take much poked in the hole to really work, then just spread around a little urine (fox, bobcat, coyote) and you should be in business. I have not used the gland lures much, but have used it for bobcats.

gbsa,
You might try looking at The Snare Shop.com or Sterling Furs for several different makers and types of lures and baits for your trapping this fall. This will be my 3rd trapping season and I have gotten all of my supplies from these suppliers.
Sterling Fur Company: no web site, but their phone # (330)939-3763
The Snare Shop: Snareshop.com
Both have lots of supplies for trapping and as I said, alot of different makers of lures and baits.
Hope this helps and I hope you have a great first season. Good luck!!

River Runner,
I have been so busy this past summer. It has been pretty crazy. Have been trying to get all the ( honey do's) done before trapping season starts. Painted my house, had my grandchildren for about a month and a half (loved every minute!) And my regular work has been busy. But now things are slowing done , and I hope to be here more often.
Thanks for asking.
I'm still waiting for the weather to turn off cold so I can start putting out some traps. It's still to warm. Upper 70's to low 80's during the day and still in the upper 40's at night.
Just waiting!!!!
