Trigger on a m77 markII?

The trigger on my ruger 220 swift sucks, I was wondering if the timminy triggers they sell in cabelas are good or if I should take it to a gunsmith? Its set at about 50lbs or it seems like I would like to get it down quite a bit. Thanks in advance.

I have a timney on mine for few years now and it's the best
in my opinion. IF you bought a savage you would not have
this problem now and save about 80 bucks on the trigger!

I put a Timney trigger on my Rem 788 and I love it. The aftermarket trigger will allow you to try different settings and set it right where you want it. Installation and adjustment was very easy with the insrtuctions provided. I had to relieve the stock a little on my rifle which was no problem with my dremel tool. In your rifle it may fit just fine.

And extending your logic a little further, if he had bought a Tikka, he would have saved about the same amount of money AND he would have a nice looking rifle with a decent stock on it...

But, he didn't....he bought a Ruger....so that's what precipitated his question.... To each his own.

I may be wrong but I think a Jard trigger you have to buy the Pull weight you want and can only adjust the pull weight with a spring kit which will add to the cost if you think you want a lighter or heavier trigger.

I was wrong when I said you have to remove the stock to adjust a Timney trigger on a M77 MarkII. Check this out. http://www.timneytriggers.com/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=52

I'm in know way an expert with triggers and adjustment. I only know the Timney I bought I'am very happy with. I would have never known what pull weight to select until I could try different settings for myself.

I do know that ME knows her stuff, as I have noticed from other post and advice she has given in some of my posts. The Jard may be the way to go but I'd rather have the fully adjustable trigger. This may be because of my inexperience and not knowing where I like my trigger pull set.

The Rifle Basix is drop in and a great trigger. The Timney may require some fitting reguarding the safety. FWIW. I went with the Rifle Basix and am very pleased.

You are absolutely correct. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
The spring must be replaced to adjust pull weights.

It is the one bone I have to pick with JARD... I ordered a 2 1/2# spring with mine. It came with a spring that gave a pull weight of about 1/2#. I just went out to my local gunsmith and bought a long length of spring from him and cut it down one coil at a time until I got a pull I liked.

My twisted opinion /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif tels me the JARD is the best way to go for a 77/22. There aren't nearly as many choices for this rifle as there are the M77.

I'm thinking of the rifle basics or the timiny because of the adjustment, my buddys has a pull so light if u fart wrong it goes off and he cant change that and I dont want that. I also have no idea what to set it at so I want the adjustable.
