You might be right, its been a while. The tap is used to clean up the threads at the top of the hole. Sometimes there is a burr, or they arnt tapped thru all the way. What the set screw does id take out the slack and kind of pre sets the trigger backward. If you have the lower in your hand cock the hammer put your hand in front of the hammer so it doesnt hit mag well. As you press the trigger the hammer will move backwards slightly, then when it breaks it goes forward. This mod takes out that little bit of travel. Its a battle trigger and was made as one, to reduce accidental discharge etc. Make sure to do many dry fires and function checks, Best thing about it if you dont like it you are only out a few cents.
