i just started night hunting and purchased the light force 170. i have the light mounted to my rifle and was using my shooting sticks for a rest but couldnt get enugh movement whith them .is ther any kind of rest on a swivel or that rotates that would make it easyer to flash my light around by my self??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Check out the post on page #4 of night calling about hunting solo.Weasel-UT built a cool shooting stand from a camera tripod.I had to make myself one of these babies and in works great.I used the bow mount for my light force to mount it,for quick removal.I try to post some pics of mine.

I use shooting sticks, but have recently just started scanning w/ a hand held in my left hand, and when I see eyes, I slowly raise the rifle on the sticks, turn the gun mounted lite on, then when I get the lite on the target, turn off the hand held and shoot. I have tried everything and this seems to work fine for me. I have had only a couple instances where I lost the eyes during this method. You just have to be careful to not let the halo lite you up as you are moving around. That thing Weasel built looks like it would work too, probably better than what I am doing. My hand held is a 170 and the nite gun has a 140 mounted to it. It is a youth size Ruger .243, real lightweight, short and easy to move around.

thanks for the info guys, i kind of like that set up on the tripod idea and might modify one myself .looks like a easy setup to operate and pack around. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
