Tripod

You'll need an ARCA clamp that will screw onto the top of the tripod, then an ARCA plate for the bottom of the gun.

Has anyone used the Vortex Radian tripods?
Yes. Big heavy tripod. Stable. Twist locks are better than most other tripods I’ve used. I think it’s a definite contender if a person is accident prone or does a lot of night hunting. You used to be able to buy them for $600.

Well I bought an AGM rattler thanks to all who helped me decide. So now I would like to buy a tripod. Kinda like the hog. any and all opinions are welcome.
I’ve used a lot of different tripods. I would definitely get setup to clip in with Arca.

No center column. It’s not as stable.

To me the weight doesn’t matter. In fact the heavier it is, the more stable it’s going to be in general.

Ball head, leveling base, or inverted ball head like an Anvil-30. Skip the pan head.

A guy by me that is a straight killer uses the RT90c with a mid range ball head. I’ve used the RT90c a bunch with an Anvil-30 and after cleaning it and re lubing, it’s fine. The twist locks don’t lock/unlock as fast as the Radian, but that’s fairly minor once you get it to the length you want.

The Radian is a step up if changing the length constantly. Also it’s nice to know if I run it over I get a new one.

RRS is lighter but as stable. The twist locks are smooth but don’t seem like they unlock quite as fast as the Radian. I don’t have the Radian to compare to right now but I will in a few weeks/month. I have the 22i which is inverted. It’s definitely better if a person doesn’t mind the length. I clip my rifle in then throw the tripod over my shoulder. So it doesn’t bother me.

Low, mid, and high end.

I’ve played with a few Leofoto tripods. They were fine as well. BOG, the head sucks, the legs are fine depending on the price.

Here's my two tripods I use, both Leofotos, LS-324C and a LS-364C, both topped with Leofoto LB-65 leveling heads.

The 324 gets used the most, as I generally sit most of the time, the 364 I use for standing & general playing.

I have one tripod set up with the Leofoto LB-65 leveling head as well. It is a really nice leveling head and is very smooth.

I agree. I bought one to try it, & liked it so well, I bought a 2nd for the other tripod.

Lighter & lower profile than a ball head, with plenty of range of movement for most any hunting scenario, & won't flop over like a ball head can.

Also, it won't unscrew while panning like those with the bowl adapter handles.

Alf, any special prep or modifications mounting the arca plate to the gun stock in your pic above?
The two AR's have generic M-Loc plates from Fleabay, the other is a full length ARCA rail for the Bravo chassis.

The Area 419 plates for regular stocks come with t-nuts, same as what's used for McMillan & Manners sling studs.

I've utilized the front action screw, and have went with two separate t-nuts.

I prefer the two separate to get the gun away from your more on the tripod, & easier to take it off if you don't want the plate on the gun.

I have a Leofoto carbon fiber with the inverted 2 piece legs with the arca mount. Highly recommend, fit and finish are excellent!
