I am interested in a trophy aoudad hunt. If anyone has had good experiences with a particular outfitter please post or PM me. Show some pics if you have them! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I hope you have a good bank roll, Aoudad are getting pricey.
If you can, look for free ranging sheep. I have taken them in the Palo Duro and Big Bend Regions in Texas. Contact the Chamber of Commerce in Alpine Texas (432/837-2326). They have a list of guides for the entire area. Best advice is to be in shape and have one flat shooting and hard hitting rifle. These animals are tough. Hard to pick the best area.
Good sheep all around the areas. When hunting in the Big Bend area I do it in Jan/Feb. It gets pretty hot down that way. The Palo Duro sheep can be hunted a little earlier, Nov/Dec is a good time for them.

Right on with going to alpine. My former boss shot the free range world record out there. There are actually some good aoudad in the texas hill country west of burnet, check with the chamber of commerce there as well. Not much public land in texas though, so you will certainly have to get an outfitter. Check out these guys as well.

We hunted coyotes in the Palo Duro canyon last year and an outfitter asked us to tell him if we saw any Aoudads. We got some footage of some great looking rams. We saw them going over a hill and parked the truck and ran up there to get a better look for the outfitter. Holy cow!! you definately need to be in shape to hunt those critters. By the time we got to the top there were 300 yards away. The outfitter we showed the footage to was very happy with us, he was guiding a few guys a couple days later and we gave him some valuable knowlege of there patterns. He said if they were there today then they would likely be in the same area during his hunt. When they put scars on there backs from ther horns hitting them they are a nice trophy. Most of these showed those trademarks. He called us after the hunt and said his hunters both took really nice rams. If the hunt was anything like what we did, then a Ewe would be a nice trophy LOL. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Take care,
