Trophy Size for Red Fox?

What do you guys consider a trophy or mount worthy size for a red fox?

Here in PA id say anything 15lb+ is prob mount worthy as long as the coat is prime.

Just interested to hear what its like for guys in other states. Average red fox around here in southern pa is about 8-10lb. We are usually full prime here by late Dec early January.

I don't know about size since I don't think I've ever weighed one but around here you definitely know when you get a big one. I've only caught a few that I would consider big and they were substantially bigger then the rest. If I were to get a fox mounted it would be based on color not size. I've caught a few cross fox that looking back on should have got mounted or at least tanned

My opinion is size doesn't matter when it comes to trophies !

I had my son's first buck mounted that he arrowed the first day he ever deer hunted at 12 years old. Small 5 point mountain deer. That little guy is a true trophy amoungst the big boys in his living room !

Also the first turkey he ever got was a jake. Awesome fly down mount shares a spot in his home with his other mounts !
I still favor that one over the old tom.

Get my drift ? Size really doesn't matter ! Hope your taxidermist does an awesome job for you & be sure to share it with us !!!

Never even considered the size of a fox as determining factor in a mount, color and fur quality are much more important IMO. I wouldn't mount an 18lb fox that looking like crap but would mount a 8 pounder if it looked great. I never gave much thought to the size of a fox till I shot one that seemed big and he was around 15.

My son shot a 50 pound coyote a few years back, the trapper we gave it to said it was the largest, nicest furred up coyote he'd ever seen. We've never come close in size or quality since. Not mounting him was a mistake.
