Truck Tires

What tire would you guys recommend for my Dodge Ram with Hemi (275/60R20)? I need a tire for high way, hunting and traveling in snow......

Thanks
Steve

No snow around here but have a hard time finding anything out there that beats BFG AT for an all around tire. Just put some 275/65/20 on my f350 diesel.

BFG ATs have been good for me in sand, rock, and snow, but I don't like them in the mud. I put some Cooper Discoverer ATPs (285/70R17) on my Ram 2500 a year and a half ago and have been pretty pleased. I've had them in snow, mud, sand, rocks, icy roads, and boring old dry pavement and they've held their own, at least as far as AT tires go. And with a 50k mile warranty, I think they were well worth the 900 bucks spent.

The ATPs I run are similar; just a Discount Tire exclusive. I am well pleased with them so far.

Anything in the Courser Brand name are pretty good Quality Tires....what ever You end up getting check the Quality,Sidewall rating and Milage they are going to last to get the most out of what You buy!

BFG TA/KO's are hard to beat IMO not so good in mud but great on rocky ground and snow, just ordered a set for my new F150

I have done ok with Coopers but have recently been very happy with Bridgestone commercial with anti-chip.
A friend just had his coopers warranty replaced at 17,000 on a Dodge diesel 1 ton. Mostly gravel miles.
The BFG's for me wore like iron and rode like a lumber wagon while taking the punishment. Just don't let them start to wear from alignment problems. These have fared the worst of any I have owned after misalignment wear starts.

There may be some good truck Coopers, I avoid them for cars though.

I'm a little unconventional with tires and snow, I put two Blizzacks on the drive axel during the heart of Winter season. I have them mounted on wheels so an easy changeout. Most any 'all season' tire can't get close to the traction of a dedicated winter tire. Yes they are a softer rubber but I've seen funerals over the issue, cheap insurance.

The fleabay sellers will sell winter tires in any number. Local dealers always want you to buy 4. I don't live in an area of extreme winter, or I would put 4 on.

Cooper ST MAXX. Quiet on the roads, great off road, and no problems in the snow. Best tires i've ever owned and I plan on buying them again. Very light tire for load range E so it didn't hurt my gas mileage much. I've got 25,000 on my current set and they still look brand new.

Should you contemplate the BFGs 4 Wheel Parts has a sweet rebate program going at the moment. Don't know if you have a store anywhere close up there, but it might be worth looking into.

Had a set of TAs on a '93 F150, absolutely loved them. Weren't great in ND mud, they didn't dump fast enough, but for snow and ice, you couldn't beat them. Didn't work bad in Florida mud, and sand, not quite as much clay in our soil here in north Florida. Weren't noisy, drove good on the highway. Got almost 60,000 miles out of them before taking them off, and a couple still had decent tread left. Put the same tires back on that one!

Bridgestone Revo then Revo2's led the pack for almost a decade, they are incredible in wet roads, mud and snow. I've had about four sets. So I go to get another set and do my checking on the tire rack reviews and saw a new kid on the block had unseated the reigning performance kings.

Firestone Destination A/T's, great tires, I've had them for a full year or better. Cheaper than Revo's too, I love it when you can get a performance leader for less than something else that isn't as good.

Technology gets better and there is no such thing as staying true to a brand with the changing improvements going on all the time.
