You take a cylinder of wood, or other materials, you spin what you think is a good design, where does the obligation end to find similarities, and what if you do it better ?

There are only so many things you can do with a cylinder, times how many call builders ?

All the call makers here " read " the material they are spinning, they make it the best it can be, if it were as simple as copying a design, we would have patents, against it. Can you produce one of those ?

Give all the artists here some credit, they do what they do,
if it resembles something from some archive some where, then show the patent, or shut up !

If I upset anyone with that remark, then good, you should be upset with yourself for thinking that way, and for bad mouthing someone without ADVANCE PROOF.

I do not know Tony personally, but I have never seen him do anything, but be a professional, and a friend to the calling world.

If you would like to accuse him of something, I suggest you bring more than jealousy, and innuendo.. !!!!

I do not care for a peeing match. My time is too valuable...but since my thread of a call that I was very proud of and worked really hard on , has already be hijacked, I might as well clear a few things.

From my post is:
Quote:
The Mun Ebony mouthpiece features an aggressive vortex air intake, with the single reed set deep within the call, making this call very easy to blow.

Quote from said call builder's site:
Quote:
The long mouth piece allows for the reed to be seated deep in the call, allowing for superb control of sounds, from soft to loud, and helps prevent freezing in cold weather.

I don't see anything that is considered "word for word". What I see is two guys trying their best to explain that the reed is set deep in the mouthpiece, instead of shallow and near the caller's mouth, like one sees in alot of calls posted. How many ways can one describe that?

As far as asking if my ship is slowly sinking? I can honestly say that is definately not an issue. This is the first time that I am almost caught up on backorders, since last September. Custom call and howler building is my passion, yet it is one of a dozen irons I have in the predator hunting fire. My ship is just fine.

If I'm coming across as a bit 'ruffled'...it is because I am. If that was your intent, then "touche". All I know is that I was quite excited to build this call, I was dang proud of it, especially the sound. You know...it's a Tebbe thing.

As well you should be, challenging call to build but you pull out the stops and it is a beautiful call, one I would GLADLY carry on my lanyard and I hate enclosed reed calls as you already know!

Awesome job as I already mentioned! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

Tony,
Don't be discouraged by what some on here have said. I have been watching what you have been producing lately and all I can say is OUTSTANDING! You have really been putting up some beautiful calls!! Keep it up!!

As far as copies, I agree with what "CrapShoot" said about duck calls. The "Classic" design on the other website looks like a duplicate of several duck calls I have seen. That is usually what the word "Classic" means, something old which has been remade.

Tony I think you did a great job on that call looks awsome!! Kurt you took the words right out of me mouth. Im over at Tonys alot and he is always wanting to do something new. Always wanting to do something different. But i think therse one problem with that.Quote:

And like Kurt said give the call makers props for the work they do. They all work hard at what they do .I was tought in First grade if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all. Again Tony great work keep it up./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Tony that is one great looking call /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gifYou just keep on working your magic. I've never tried to turn a call but even I can see there is just so many ways to do it..With the number of call builders out there it's more the finish and care put in a call that make it yours. Hang the pot stirrers just keep on amazing us with your calls. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Tony,
I forgott to say how sweet that call looks, before my rant /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Now I'm going to compare calls to peoples rear ends.

Sorry to the rear end makers, but there are only so many ways to make one. Some of them look way better than others, they all do the same thing, and sooner or later you will find one that you think you already saw.

They key to this lesson is appreciating the rear end, and not making one out of yourself, we have seen it before... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Who would of thought that turning a chunk of tooth and some wood would cause so much grief? I don't see where this creates no trust with callmakers, reduces call sales, and causes the sky to fall. I agee, Rick...it's not any fun...when the only time some people reply about a person's call, is when they want to cause problems, complain, or better yet, give you a backhanded compliment (especially from friends). I try to, as i have since I started as a member, compliment everyone's work...always finding good in something about it. Guess that was just how I was raised.

I appreciate the positive comments from a bunch of you guys. I've been in the shop all night, packaging orders and spinning a few more calls. I've ruined over $50 worth of burl and ebony...scraching my head and pitching it on the concrete after turning it...all over something that I DIDN'T DO WRONG. I'm shutting down the lights and going to bed.

Tony,

A very good friend of mine just told me that, there is always a silver lining, he is a very profound guy ! And he is a call builder !

Chin up, tell them all to go to... the ice cream shop and have a good day.. cause thats what you are going to do.. !

Remember, never let the @#$%%^^ get ya down !!!!

Kurt

Tony,
I don`t post much but just want to tell you I visit this forum just to see some of the incredible calls some of you guys make and not doubt you are one of the ones that make it happen /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

Keep them coming!!
David

You're fine Rick, my thoughts were more of a generalization.

I was a bit out of character, last evening and let things get to me. That's not me...I almost always live on the high road.

Tony

Tony,
I like it just fine, beautiful work, as always. There are many talented call makers who frequent this forum. Nearly all are great guys and valuable members. Many of them I will buy calls from to use, appreciate, and cherish. However, I now know two call makers that will never, ever, be on my "to buy" list. They have made that other list... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

i guess if i'm that bad of a person it is time to throw in the towel. so one sided here.i'm going to sit down for a bit ponder this one.Rick

My $.02 worth....the TT mouthpiece is a not-so-subtle rip off of THO Game Calls' Bonker. All one has to do is look at 'em. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Otherwise, it is a nice lookin' call.
