Turkey decoys? Anyone tried this?

I sometimes use a turkey decoy. I hang the decoy from a tree limb using some fishing line, and let the wind move it, I have had foxes come running in to the decoy.

I've had coyotes come in to my decoys in the spring. Nailed one last year between the eyes with my bow last year as he made off with my jake. Give it a try, you might want to try tying fishing line to the turkey decoy and putting an owl decoy next to it. Make the turkey move as the tape is playing. I've had alot of luck using owl decoys for predators. Good luck!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I've heard of many yotes being killed while turkey hunting. Be sure to let us know how you did, I may try it the next time out as well.

I too have had coyotes and 1 cat to to try to take my turkey decoy in the spring. The coyotes didnt make it But season wasnt in on the cat so i move around and he seen me he left. VM

I was just talking with someone about this same topic this week at work. I was thinking about getting a mounted hen for turkey hunting (which I do alot of). This guy is the best turkey taxidermist and they are so realistic they would work great on turkey. I said I bet they would great on coyotes as well. Here are some pictures of what they look like. But at $430 a piece pretty pricey.

I've called in several coyotes while turkey hunting. The young, dumb ones just run right in and try to take the decoy, and the older ones tend to get downwind and stalk. Usually, you can hear them coming in, but if you aren't paying attention, you'll miss your chance as they catch on fast/smell you and then hightail it out.

WOW, I don't thick I would use that for yots, they look real enough I wanted to eat them...lol Those are some NICE dec's.
I am thinking of useing my turk dec's as well, I know a lot of turk. hunters who have had to defend their dec's inthe spring.

Later,
