I have this story posted in another forum, but wanted to share it with PM as well.

3 yrs ago I was in a 4 wheeler accident while scouting for birds just before the opening day. I couldnt even raise my right arm let alone shoulder a gun. Depressed about the situation, my wife's little 12yr old cousin volunteered to come and shot. ( my kids werent of age yet ) This boy had a hunting license, no camo, no gun, and never turkey hunted before.
I reluctantly said sure, we'll se if we can get you a bird.
The next morning on opening day I got him all dressed up in my spare camo 3 sizes too big, and away we went.
We got the decoy setup on a small rise in a strip of woods between two fields, the field to the rear of us they would come out and strut for the hens every morning. Sure enough when the sun come up I had 3 gobblers racing to get to my hens sounds.
The first bird appeared on the rise @ 20yds staring at the decoy and had a nice 9 inch beard to him, I whispered over to the boy.. shoot...
Nothing.. I whisper again.. shoot...
Again nothing.. at this point the gobbler is getting spooky so I give the boy a big elbow and say right out loud SHOOT !!!
He fires that 12guage 3inch mag and does a flip right over backward while the gobbler drops right there a floppin. I told him it was gonna kick but he didnt expect that.
I pick up the gun make sure its on safe and go and retreive his bird.
The boy's just getting up off the ground and yelling "did I get em ?" the same time I'm picking up his bird congradulating him.

A few months later I run into the boy and he has gift for me. I didnt know but his grandma is a good artist and made me a painted feather in thanks.

I know for a fact that hunt impacted that boy for the rest of his life, he'll never forget it, neither will I.
He still turkey and deer hunts to this day.
