Shot this bird with my bow in cali. in spring 06. I told my taxidermist that I didnt have room for a full mount but I wanted more then just a tail feather deal. This is what he came up with...what do you think?
P.S The beard is 11 7/8 spurs 1 1/2 and bird was 32 pounds.
I have been told that this could be a cali. record. To be honest I didnt know there was anyone keeping track of turkeys. Does anyone know how to see the record book?
I just got on the NWTF site and scored the bird. It would be number one in the world taken with a bow. Score is 86.125. My buddy that was hunting with me will be my witness. This is a great way to start my day!!
Forgot to add that it would be the largest Typical turkey.
Click this link to find all the turkey records. All I can say is Congrat!! I've never even heard of a turkey that big. Then add a big beard and spurs. Anyway I hope that you got some verification on weight/ beard length and spurs. Unfortunately the NWTF won't accept anything without that on birds with exceptional stats. This is from an application.

is required. Beards measuring more than 12 inches must have additional witnessing, and application
That is a great wall mount. My wife let me make room for the struting bird. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif He is smaller than yours 10.5 inch beard, 1.25 inch spurs and 31 lbs.
Thanks....The bird is the record in my mind. Weather or not the nwtf records it or not. I am happy. I have my eye on a bird on the same ranch that is just as big if not bigger. I have made a deal with the ranch owners to guide one lucky guy this year and still take my bird. Cant wait for spring.
Not downplaying that mount, it looks great, but where are those 1.5" hooks? I would want them incooperated into the mount somehow. The spurs actually tell me more about a bird than the beard does.
