Turkey Rifle?

I use a rifle/shotgun combo for turkey hunting, and occasionly in the fall use a 22 mag with 50 gr hp's, when carrying the combo the rifle is used sparingly but effectively. I'm not a bad caller, last count I had harvested 148 turkeys, with most of them being gobblers in the spring, but due to the arrival of the coyotes here, the turkeys are adapting and gobbleing is sparse, also the fact that hens aren't hunted in the fall as they once were the population is exploding, lotsa hens means the toms don't hafta gobble, so me being a predator has adapted also, last year I shot my first gobbler in 8 years in the spring with a rifle, he strutted in the same place for 13 days, never gobbled, never responded in any ways to a call, so I did snipe him, a nice 22 pound 3 YO bird.

Ive taken a few with a bow in the fall season, and a few with the .22 Mag. Now a crow with a bow would be a challenge! I've taken plenty of woodchucks with a bow but never a crow. If I was targeting a turkey with a rifle I'd keep it to a rimfire, or small caliber centerfire and take head/ neck shots. The hornet , bee, and fireball would work great for that.

If i was going to have a rifle just for Turkey hunting it would be the 17 Rem. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
