Turkey Season is coming up...what do you all use???

I hunt with my bow usually but if your in a state that allows rifles the .223 40gr VMax is turkey death. For a shotgun I use a XXX full turkey choke with 3 1/2in #5 shot. You should really pattern your gun first to know how good your pattern is at different ranges and which loads are the best for yours because every gun is different. I use mouth calls and slate calls and usually a tom and 1 or 2 hen decoys.
This year is gonna suck because we still have snow on the ground.

Went out this morning, I took a box call, my 1300 turkey gun I bought in 1982 I think it was, #4 federal premium.
Heck the wind was blowing about 40mph sounding like a jet plane going low overhead all the time.
I gave up at 9:30, had sightings up until today, looks like rain for Monday....I don't have very good luck Turkey hunting.

ill slso tell u to go to oldgobbler.com im a member ovet their youll forget more thsn you learn i shoot a remington 870 sps turkey with a jellyhead choke and hevi 7s

Benelli M1Super90 3" 12 gauge 24" barrel, Indian Creek BDS or Kick's GT chokes and Hevi 13 3-2-6 shell...

I usually bowhunt, but due to time restraints this year I'll be packing my 11-87. I got some hevi-shot #7's and a new choke a couple months back. Seems to pattern pretty nice.

Is it legal to use #7s? Here we can only use 4,5,6 shot.Originally Posted By: ihuntducksalot72I usually bowhunt, but due to time restraints this year I'll be packing my 11-87. I got some hevi-shot #7's and a new choke a couple months back. Seems to pattern pretty nice.

Kick's GT chokes are about 1 ½” on the outside. The choke in the picture is the Indian Creek and it is a full 2” outside the barrel. I really like the looks and feel of the Kick’s Gobblin’ Thunder chokes best, the Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike is a pipe. With that said, the IC-BDS consistently outshoots the Kick’s by about 20 pellet strikes in the 10” @ 40 yards.
