People from western PA love to hunt. My father took the first two days of buck season off every year to take me and my brother out. I know the season dates have changed but it used to be the first Monday after Thanksgiving it started. Kids all had off from school. Can you imagine schools today giving kids the first two days of buck season off? There was a place I used to take my wife to called the Gateway lodge in Cooks Forest. The bar in that place had old black and white photos of hunters from way back when. 10-12 bucks hanging in a row with old guys wearing checkered flannel shirts, smoking and all carrying lever action rifles. You would be hard pressed to find a house in western PA without an old Savage model 99. Heck, I still have my 308 model 99.Clarion is 45 minutes from me. I'm between Franklin and Meadville. I've always told everyone "if I ever get to go to Montana, I'm not coming back"looking to retire in 3-4 years and hoping to get to come out that way to do some predator hunting.
