I just realized, I don't even own snow camo?? What happens if we get a couple inches of snow?!?! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Can I even go in my regular (hardwoods) camo?? I really hope so! I've been looking forward to hunting in the snow but just remembered I don't have the gear... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yes, you can still go. Just sit with your back to a tree. You will blend in just fine. Like I said before, send pics tomorrow of your first kill.

Movement is the biggest concern. I'm used to hunting at night so it really doesn't matter what kind of camo I wear. Critters are unable to see past the red lens of my spotlight. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Marijane, if it does turn out where you need snow camo, here's an easy way to get some. Use an old white bedsheet like a poncho. It's quick, cheap and most likely there's one laying around your house somewhere. MI VHNTR

I think you can get yourself in more trouble with snow camo if it is not really snowy. I wear my usual camo and have a white poncho, white hat and white neck gaiter. It is easier to blend in in a patchy environment with white splashes. Last season when we had 3 foot of snow all winter so snow camo a must, this year spotty snow and regular camo works great.

with that blonde hair and a bed sheet you will do fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
where do guy's find pritty girls that love hunting? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
guess i should have shopped around more when i was young. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
wish my wife loved to hunt on anyday that ends in y. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif we would sure get a lot more quality time together. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Try going to your local car parts store that sells paint, and ask for a throw away tyvek paint suit and paint sock. I just got one for 7 bucks and 2 for the paint sock(like a balaclava) used some spray paint to put some "splashes" on it and works great. I'll post pictures later.

I figured if Rich Higgins can call them in wearing a Santa Clause suit, my get-up shouldn't even begin to phase them...

My problem is that as I've aged, my blood doesn't run as hot as it used to and I'll probably be found frozen and eaten...

I'd probably use the advice on an old bed sheet and cut slits in it so it looked like some of the 'leafy' stuff that you see at Cabelas or Bass Pro for no more snow than we usually get...

Correction: Gerry Blair called coyotes while wearing a Santa suit.

As stated, your regular camo will work fine as long as you do your part.
Another quick/easy "snow" camo, if you really think you need it...Go to the store & buy a men's "A"-type white undershirt, in a size big enough to fit over your regular camo. It will provide a small bit of "snow" color to your regular camo. It's what I use, cuz I'm cheap.

You could also look at some snow camo netting. You can fold it up and carry it and it's one less layer to worry about. We bought some at at a coon hunters association weekend for ten dollars.

Had my wife make a "poncho" out of an old bed sheet.

Works great!

To be truthful, I have about the same luck WITHOUT the poncho, unless it's TOTAL snow...

I agree that if you just sit in front of something that's PARTLY covered with snow, you'll do just fine. Good luck!
