Ultimate coyote gun

The Ultimate coyote gun? I'd love to see an AR in 22-250 and 10 gauge, with a switch to flip to either barrel.

That would be an ultimate coyote gun.

I use the 52 gr. A-max in my 22-250 ackley and Q uses it in his 220 swift and also a few Gov.t trappers use this bullet as well. It has good down range performance and not to hard on the fur. It has a plastic tip but dose'nt seem to tear them up like the other ballistic tip bullets...

mine is a rem 700 action,24 inch hart ss barrel that fluted and bead blasted, chambered in 22-243 shooting seirra 80 gr. ken farrel rings and bases with a ziess 6.5-20, h-s pres. stock, and yes that 80 gr is hard on fur but you don't have to go looking for one after you shoot him

The ultimate coyote gun? Which gun do you have in your hand? Then thats the ultimate one. I've used alot of guns to take coyotes and for every situation there is an ultimate gun but I found out a long time ago I couldn't carry them all so I pick one. Sometimes its a shotgun sometimes a combination gun or an AR but most times its a bolt 22-250 shootins 50 grain V-Maxs because it has proved to be the most effective and fur friendly combo for ME. Most coyotes I shoot are comming to the call so I can choose my shot and usally take a face on chest shot. Have had few exits on broadside shots but my favorite rifle is a Mod. 70 Classic SS featherweight and only has a 20" barrel so I don't get great velocity. So pick your own ultimate coyote gun you'll get no argument from me.

Call softly an shoot straight.

P.S Chooseing the ultimate coyote gun requires extensive field testing. get off the couch and into the woods.

Tikka T3 lite SS in .243. Off the bench or off the bipod. It will flat out shoot. For a light weight, pencil barreled rifle, it will group the 75 grain Vmaxs into very small groups. It is easy to carry and handle. I topped mine with one of the Simmons Whitetail scopes and I love it. I carried a Rem VLS until I got tired of the weight. You can carry the Tikka all day, and it will out shoot most heavy barreled factory rifles.
Unless you are into catch and release, use enough gun. With the .243 you won't have to look for the coyote after you shoot it. My 2cents worth. Jim

All Duracoated in a sagebrush colored pattern.

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish with your coyote hunting. Personally, I hunt coyotes to be a better big game hunter, so try to use a rifle which is configured close to what I use for deer/elk/antelope. I'm breaking in a new Savage 11FHNS .243 because I like the caliber for deer and antelope and because it is similar to the rifle I have always used for deer, which is an old Ruger Mark I .243. IMHO, Ruger ruined the rifle when they went to the Mark II. The old Ruger belongs to my folks, so I bought my own rifle. My hope is to someday buy an old Ruger Mark I short action, have my gunsmith rebarrel it for .243 Ackley Improved, 25" #3 Shilen barrel, 1:10 twist, with a Hogue OD Green stock, Timney trigger set for 2.5 lbs, matte blue finish, Leupold VX-7 3.5-14X50 long range scope in satin black, pivoting Harris bi-pod for sitting, 1 1/4" non-slip web sling, and a piece of thread taped to the barrel to watch the wind.

That's my ultimate rifle...

If i was still trying to get as many as i could in a season, i'd stick with my AR .223 AI (or just straight .223), shooting the JLK 65 Low Drag @ 3050 mv using 1 of the old DPMS VLD magazines with the Pride/Fowler Ind. 3-9x 22 Long Rifle Rapid Reticle recald. to the trajectory of my load.

This is it...
