ultra sonic cleaning

I have just ordered an ultra sonic cleaner for my brass and to clean gun parts. What is everybody using to clean their gun parts? I see that Hornady makes a cleaning solution but wondering if anybody has their a special mix.

Prolix is my ONLY choice for gun parts. I would highly encourage you to look at their product. It keeps my handguns looking factory new and it breaks up crud in areas that are very difficult to clean.

I would highly encourage you to give it a try. It's non toxic and doesn't smell so bad that it makes your eyes water like other cleaning solutions.

I've been thinking of trying this, but I "heard" (Uh huh) that it leaves a lot of brass flakes or particles in the bottom of the dirty water.

Is that true, or just more internet BS?

No but I'm intrested to see how it works. I use it in the dishwasher and it works great. Are you susposed to use water with the media? I don't know what it would do dry, but it ELIMINATES hard water spots...

i have been reading on other forums that people are putting this in the ultra sonic cleaner along with dawn dish soap and running cycles. it said to do 1 table spoon for every quart of water and then some dish soap. will try once i get my cleaner. i got a buddy who uses half vinegar and half water and says it works pretty well.

I buy it in a local shop here in UT, but you can order it if you dont have a local supplier.

Its pretty cool stuff honestly. It is made of a citrus base, so it smells kind of like oranges and doesnt give you a headache to be around. It is reusable, so you can soak lots of things in it for a long time (even if it looks gray and murky, it still cleans well). When it dries, it acts like a lubricant as well. So thats a plus!

I feel like an infomercial guy right now, but I cant say enough about how much I like it.

Would I use it for cleaning brass? Yes, BUT I think it is pretty expensive for that stuff. I would use other cleaning media for brass.

Here is some other fella that really likes the stuff:
