US Made Scopes

I'm anxious to see the results here too. A scope that is 100% USA made.

I think Leupold used to be. What about USO or Nightforce?
 
Being 100% US made would be a real trick. Scopes, like cars, are made up of parts that come from all over. Thereis a verygood article put out by Leupold regarding scopes manufacturing. Even 2 identical Leupold scopes don't necessarly have parts that come from the same places.
 
Leupold/Redfield use imported glass. Mostly Jap. Rest of scope materials are made here whenever possible, which is most of the time.

Certain models by Burris and NF are made here.

USO is made here.

Zeiss Conquest is assembled here.

Minox is assembled here.

Schott glass(regarded by some as the best) does have a North American division, and some scopes do use their USA made glass. Such as the Swift premier line. Excellent glass in a not so excellent scope.....

SixX, Black Diamond, Signature Select, Euro Diamond, XTR, Handgun, and Scout. From time to time we'll run a batch of FullFields through as well.

We import our glass. I couldn't tell you about the others because I really don't know. I'm not aware of a US lens manufacturer although there certainly could be one.
 
Eric, Not an answer to your question, but I have a Burris Black Diamond and couldn't be happier.... Also when I called the Burris Customer Service to get advice on the rings to mount the scope to my rifle, they were excellent in getting me the correct information..

I do know that, at one time, Bausch & Lomb used to make lenses here in the U.S. and were excellent in quality.. . I have a pair of binoculars that were made for the Navy by them in 1943 that I've had for at least 40 years and they are as good, if not better, than many on the market today..
 
My understanding is that there isn't a US supplier that can keep up with the demand and quality of the glass like Japan can. I read where one scope manufacturer is putting out about 1600 scopes a day; with no less than 3 lenses each, 24000 lenses a week is a lot to make. Worst part is that is one major scope manufacturer and that is a low estimate on the number of lenses. It amazes me how you guys can build anything as precise as a scope that fast.
