US Optics or Nightforce?

Hmmm... Interesting question but I'm not sure how great of an answer you will get here. I have had both and although I never did any really precise box tests I couldn't tell any difference between either. For me and my use the NF appears to be just as good and is considerably lighter but I'm no expert.

I will be interested to see if anyone has done any testing that actually shows an advantage one way or another...
 
US Optics, I own one it's outstanding. But for that money in the current market I'd look at a premier reticles heritage.
Night Force will suit you fine in the $1400-$1700 range.
Also, If you are looking at USO also check Zeiss Hensoldt and S&B. I try and buy once cry once on things like this. You can find them new to almost new on long range shooting forums for decent prices as well.

Had a USO, sold it for a NF. Much happier.

Had to send my USO back for debris in the ret and the ill knob was so loose, when you shot, your ret would turn off. Took roughly 1 month to get back. Wasn't impressed with that.

My 2 NF have been 100%.

Another thing I wasn't impressed with USO was how much $$$ they want to charge to change to a different ret. $400 + whatever the ret cost... Keep that in mind if you buy a USED USO, make sure it has a ret that you'll like, or you're screwed.
 
I have never had a problem myself.
Given the amount they (USO) are costing now, I'd look at S&B, Hensoldt, and Premier.
Premier being the cheaper value of these.
 
Yup, my premier's are volumes better than USO I had.

They want way to much money for not enough scope.
 
If by the term "tracking" you mean accurate travel and repeatability of the turret/reticle movement then of the two you mentioned USO hands down. Personally, I have Hensoldt and Premier Reticles scopes and while I like the Premier for the innovation that went into it there is no beating Zeiss/Hensoldt glass.
 
msinc... you know we are talking rifle scopes right, not telescopes?

There is more to a rifle scope than "glass."
 
A nightforce FFP isn't a bunch cheaper than a USO. A horus reticle is 400.00
because it is not theirs. The others are 86.00 to 160.00. I don't know what
labor is, but I was not charged any in my case.

My two USO's shoot a perfect box, the clicks are dead on throughout their
ranges. I have never heard that Nightforce is any different. The differences
are tube strength, USA made, and the USO is a custom scope built to your
standards.

I have never owned USO, but I resently bought a NF and not happy with it. At high magnification, there is a yellowish haze over the sight picture and clarity is poor. I spoke to their customer service and they refered to the problem as a "monochromatic" somrthing or other. I sent it in to be checked out and they did seem genuinely eager to fix the problem, but they said it would be about 5 weeks turn-around.
 
Monochromatic just means one color or hue. In your case a yellow hue
developed because of coatings or a problem in the glass itself. The poor
clarity is probably from the glass if it is a resolution and not a focus problem. I have looked through Nikon Monarch scopes side by side that
one was very good and the other displayed what you are talking about.
 
Something to also think about is how long await do you want to have for a USO. It took my cousin five months from the time he ordered it to the time he had it in his hands.

NightForce you can go to a store and buy one off the shelf.

Old thread and old news... with the new series of optics USO offers, they have them available, IF you don't want to completely customize your set up...
I'm running a few USO's, LR-17 MOA's and ER-25 with the H59 and I am very impressed with not only the glass over my NXS's but the way the optic is built, they will work very well for us beating the piss outta em...
