User Experience with Nitrex TR1 3X9 42mm Scope

Would like some feed back from owners of Nitrex TR1 3X9 42mm scopes. I just ordered one in gloss from Natchez Shooter Supply for $99.00. I plan on mounting it on a nicely sportized Airaska T-38, 6.5X57 Mauser. I currently have a Leupold VarX-III 2.5X8 on it, but this rifle is mostly just a shooter and the Leupold is more scope than I want to put on it. I re-barreled the T-38 with a Midway A&B barrel and chambered it in the 6.5X57 Mauser, added a Timmy trigger. After bore lapping with a set of Tubbs bullets, the gun shoots under an inch at 100 yards. I just had it blued and wanted a gloss scope to match. Saw Natchez had the TR1 in gloss for $99.00.

Here is is before checkering and blueing.

I have the TR-1 1.5-5x32 and the 3-9x42. I would rank my scopes for clarity as a tossup between the Nikon Monarch UCC and the Nitrex TR-1 1.5-5x32. The TR-1 3-9x42 I could say is comprable to my Weaver Classic scopes. With only the very slightest difference between the four scopes.

The TR-1 3-9 scope is a fantastic, awesome buy at $99. I LOVE it at that price. I think that you will be very satisfied. The 1.5-5x32 scope is a little more forgiving with eye relief and eye position maybe, but that might just be due to the lower powers. the TR-1 3-9 has very generous eye relief. I think that they advertise it at 3.5 inches, but it seems like more at 3x.

I shoot the 3-9 on my AR and am very satisfied. I do think that its pretty heavy for a 3-9 scope. Heavier that a Leupold or Nikon in my opinion.

I just ordered one as well. I've also got two tr1 4-16 scopes, and LOVE them. For 99 dollars, you can't do better. If I used 3x9 scopes more, I would buy 5 of them just to have for future use. I bought mine for on top of my .450 marlin. We shall see how it handles recoil. I wish I could find one more 4-16.

Never bought one of the Nitrex TR1 scopes from Natchez, but did buy a couple of the TR2 scopes. Wish I had more of them.

Gent I shoot with occasionally at range bought 3 of the highest power TR1 scopes when they were available. Needless to say, he thought the optics and etc. were quite good and the price great.

Whenever someone posts about suggestions for a decent low cost scope around a 3-9 power, I generally reply about buying one of the remaining TR1s at Natchez.

Isnt the Nitrex the one that comes on a few Howa pacage deals like the Axiom? My buddy has one but has never shot it. It would be interesting to know if they are decent.

I think that scope is a nikko-starling if my memory is correct.
