As far as the guys having trouble with UPS,, sometimes you have to go to a UPS distribution center, but they'll ship it. The franchises like "The UPS Store" have their own policies, and it's their choice regardless of whether it's a liability issue or a political one.
The USPS ISN"T a franchise or private business and for our own benefit we need to hold their feet to the fire and demand that they do their job...
Besides,,, it's actually FUN if it's an anti.

Well said Charlie.......

RePete, I agree; hold their feet to the fire to maintain our rights. However, I feel that goes for the Franchise Stores also. The wheel that squeaks gets grease.

Let the management know how you feel. If that doesn't work let the their customer base know.

Getting to be quite the rebel in my old age. (-:

Truth is,,, I had to eat my words when I got into a debate with DeerhunterJJ about this exact subject a year or two ago, and it left a nasty taste in my mouth..
The Post Master in our little one horse town (and I mean that literally as the only business is a Post Office with ONE employee),, who is a gun guy and hunter had me convinced that I couldn't ship firearms. He simply didn't understand the rules and had no reason other than self preservation to not ship guns. Once I challenged him to show me the rule and he couldn't, he changed his policy.

I guess the lesson learned is "Always Question Authority"..
Especially when it concerns our Constitutional Rights..
I still use the UPS outlet at our local grocery store, but I'm glad I learned the facts and convinced him to see things differently for the next guy that needs to ship a firearm..

They way I have done it is ship it in a long box, not marked as a gun of course, shipped ground rate with SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION & insured. Make sure the bolt is not in the gun, but in the box naturally.
No problem ever & I work there as a carrier.
I also get small priority boxes from dealers shipped to the dealer on my route with signature confirmation & insured. They do it all the time.

I always ship USPS with no problems, but in the spirit of BAM Bam's{Obama's} transparency doctrine I must disclose my baby sister is postmaster.

Cant agree with ya more buddy.

2muchgun, this one is shipping to an FFL for a private sale, not to the "bat cave." That'll be next week.

I went to the Post Office today and spent an hour in their till they told me I could finally ship the [beeep] thing. I told them to inform the people who told me I couldn't ship it on Saturday.

Glad it's on it's way.

Thank you for all the help everyone. I did print the sheet off, but they had a copy on hand as well. The one guy who helped me today was very helpful, but the woman postmaster was dragging her feet till she found the info she wanted in her books...

Tim I pay for all the data I transmit over the web.. I try to keep it short..

But here you go..

I stopped at USPS yesterday again since I needed to get a
MO and the guy who denied me on Saturday apologized to me. Someone must of jumped his butt about the situation. He said both him and the manager was wrong. I'm just glad they know the rules... Made me happy.

Way to go Mike!!!

At least the first guy you talked to was humble enough to apologise..
Doesn't sound like the "Lady" in charge was quite as gracious..

She obviously didn't appreciate someone pointing out the fact that she didn't know how to do the job she gets paid to know how to do..

I hear about people shipping firearms throught the USPS and have always wondered how it could be done. Unless I am wrong, it is illegal to take a firearm into a federal building. I have never seen it written that the USPS was exempt from that.

The way I understand it, anyone may ship a long gun by USPS. But, only a FFL may ship a handgun legally by USPS.

You are 100% correct.
But only Bona Fided FFL DEALERS can mail handguns. NO 03 FFL holders can mail handguns. (C&R FFL)
