UTAH hunters!!!

Killed my first coyote when I was eight years old. Dad called it in with a "tally ho" to 30 yards and I smoked him with my Grandpa's 30-30 lever action with iron sights. DRT... You guessed it, I was hooked! I turned 30 this year so that makes it 22 years now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Well right on, i was just curious if it was all knew guys just gettin into it or if you guys had been doin it awhile. It appears everyone is very experienced which makes me feel better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I doubt with some of these 30year guys on here nobodys going to post up and say. I just started this year and I educated 30 dogs so far

Why not? We all pretty much started the same way. There is no shame in being new to the sport.

I think its ridiculous that many the utah posters have done nothing but complain. Its either someone in your spot, too many hunters, too many contests, or getting upset about new hunters. I've been calling for two years now and yeah I've "educated" my share of dogs. Either you deal with the growth of the sport by becoming a better caller or give up! I've had a blast so far and I hope you guys see it as more than just a number of dogs in the bed of your truck. I'm sorry if I ruined your dogs but I'd gladly share a stand with any of you, thats now that I actually get em', to make it up to you.

My hats off to you Sage, but yes there are way too many contests and hunters for the small amount of land holding coyotes that we have to play on, and folks that think they have to hunt them year round ruin it for those of us that hunt them for the fur, if you want to just shoot something to leave it lay, go shoot Prairie Dogs, lots more of them to shoot !

I tought myself how to call when I was 16 been doin it for ten years now.
And every year I do a little better and find a few more good stands

How about some pics and info on that Howa Carbon Supreme .204 Chrisensen Arms Carbon Fiber Barrel rifle? Sounds interesting.

Hunting birds, deer and elk for 15 years. Grew up hunting rabbits and p dogs on skyline drive above fairview. This is my first year being serious about coyotes because the big game thing does not appeal to me the way it used to. To many "buck fever" morons to contend with. The predator people I have meet in the past few months seem more down to earth but a little tighter lipped. Its cool I understand, I never gave up my prime elk spots. Looking to team up and share gas with some of you if your interested.

I've been hunting since I was little when my buddies and I would go out after birds with our bb guns. I've enjoyed hunting elk, deer, grouse, chukars, and rabbits. My wife bought me a little rabbit call for christmas about 4 years ago. I went out the next day called in 2 foxes and have been hooked ever since. Not long after that called in my first two coyotes to about 15 yards and shot both of them! Now it's hard to find a weekend that I'm not either shooting my guns or hunting something. Love the sport

WOW Bozdogkiller! I've been at it for a few years and have maybe half as many kills under my belt as you. You've killed 64 coyotes in a year! That's amazing! Way to go. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif You must be single huh? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ive been doing it for 8yrs now Im still learning tons and yeah the sport is growing and you do have to become a better caller....thats why I like to get on private land all you have to do is ask. Whats the worst thing that can happen...they tell you no...ok that is pretty bad when they do that but more than likely they will want the dogs gone

i am still working on calling in my first coyote.I just started taking it seriously this year.and tell you what with all the snow i have been freazin my butt off but it has been a blast learning. Bet it is even more fun when one comes in.

I grew up in Price. Me and a friend used to call in the mornings before school. Called in my first coyote with an old ghetto blaster playing a cotton tail in distress when I was 15. It was a 40 minute walk from my house. We didn't know anything about camo or how to call. We would just go out with our dad's deer rifles an hour or two before it got light, sit down and shiver while we waited for the sun to come up. Then we would play the tape for about an hour until we had to race off to try and catch the bus to school. We did this for a couple of weeks before we had a coyote come in, sit down and watch us at about 50 yards. I was so excited I missed him and then my buddy missed him 3 more times while it ran off. I only lived there until I was 17 and then moved to Wyoming. That was back in 1990. We had never heard of someone calling them in we just saw a tape at Gart Bros and thought that would be freaking cool. It was and still is!

I was 12 when I killed my first coyote. I was feeding cows and it was standing on a hill watching me I grabbed my grandpas open sighted 243 and shot 185 yards. Killed a few after that the same way that was fourteen years ago. I didnt get serious until five years ago. Have loved every day of it since.

Helipiotm do you do any spotting while your flying. I noticed a chopper flying circles around me today while I was hiding in the bushes /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Dont know why they were there other than to spot game.
