UTAH hunters!!!

I used to when I flew in utah. I found some of my honey holes that way /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif. It gave me a good advantage becuase I could see where they would be coming from. Alot of times I could find spots that from the ground didnt look good but from the air looked great. I would find a spot that looked good to call or find coyotes in an area. I would mark the spot on my hand held GPS. Then I would find a spot to hide the vehicle and do the same. I havent flown in utah since last may /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif. I have been traveling all over the country. If I saw somebody out and about I would always leave them alone. I dont like it when somebody flies over me when Im hunting so I do the same. I use to work with a nonhunter. One time we were taking a helicopter to wyoming. We flew over a big meadow with two big bulls and a hunter on the edge setting up for the shot. He flew down(no controls on my side /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif) and chased the elk into the trees. You could see the steam coming from the guys head. I told him if he did that again I would turn him in for harrasing game. I felt really bad for that hunter. He was minding his own and we should have done the same.

Cant beat the vantage point. I have flown in medical and the DPS chopper quite a few times for work and think thats got to be the ultimate spotting scope.

I leve in Utah. After going on a hunting trip to wyoming I'd rather live there for hunting! I've found it's best either to hit it late or early here, and we missed it early, so we're just getting started. I started in 2005.

I was out a couple weeks ago at one of my favorite stands. Not a soul around. Dogs were talking, and i was pumped up. Had four dogs along a tree line about a mile away. Started calling, and had two of them start coming in. Could here a helicopter in the back ground but it sounded a ways away. Had the two dogs about 200 yards away. Then up over the hill comes the chopper, flies right over me and sits and circles the dogs. Of course they turned tail and ran like no other. Then the chopper flew away. I was steaming hot mad. I have to admit that i zeroed in on him debating one little shot to the tail rotor. But my better judgment took over and i lowered my gun as he flew away.

2 yrs now, i educate every dog i see either i shoot it or i miss it either way it learns. UTAHDOGGER, if you think we have limited land and limited dogs you need to find more spots to go buddy. theres tons of land open and even more dogs. good luck out there and be safe guys!!

what areas do yo uhunt? I am hutning usually west of salt lake maybe a little south too. i have never gone north though! and i see you live north of me! I have called 4 dogs about 1 mile south of I-80 out by Delle. I also call out by my work(the magnesium plant). Out by the salt factories. there are quite alot of dogs out there In aa week i usually see 4-5 on my way to and from work. and there are now free range cows out there too, lots of food for coyotes, especially when a cow gets hit(dont ask how i know, luckily it was a UTA van we were in).. Good luck out there

Up North here, you have to head West Of Snowville, between there and the Nevada Border. Lots of open land, for sure, but way over hunted and way too few dogs anymore, long trip for little gain, you folks that live furthur South can get into them in a shorter distance than we can up here, maybe no less pressure on them though, anyway, good luck to you, I'm done till denning season.
