What did you all apply for and how many points do you have. Sorry if this has been posted before. Ive been away for a while.

This is the first year I didn't apply for anything. Hunting licence costs too much. Bonus points apparently don't mean anything either.

Well I finaly got my turkey tag that I have been trying for. But im not going to be able to hunt becuase I will be in Alaska /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif I put in for antelope and have five points so I should draw this year.

i put in for oquirrh/stansbury archery elk.. have 7 points, I better draw or else....... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

i have 4 pts for elk and bighorn sheep, non resident, yes that did suck having to buy a licsnce this year to be able to get points. What is the best area to draw for a big bull, i may start applying next year, not sure which unit to go. I will be using a gun not a bow. Sucks you have to draw a tag to hunt turkeys. I drew mt lion in beaver area that took 3 years but worth the wait, i got a big boy in 2003.

The Pahvant and Monroe Mtn areas have a history of producing big bulls, but the drawing odds for residents is lousy. I put in "somewhere else". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif My location is no secret, but I don't need to advertise.

Foxking will you be hunting on your own or hiring a guide? If you're using a guide, you might want to figure out which one and let him help you decide which area.

I've got 7 points for elk but don't plan on drawing for probably another 7 or more years the way the points are going. Funny thing though, my uncle drew back in 2003 with only 4 points.

Good thinking beef /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif I have nine points for Mt lion and your supposed to draw after five. Im just bad luck with drawing tags. I get a turkey tag after forever of putting in and wont be able to fill it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

i would rather go unguided but i may use my guide that i got my cat with he was pretty good. I like hunting unguided the best though, we did unguided AK caribou trip but that was much easier then elk hunting. Thanks for the info i will research the 2 areas, i am a non res so it might work out better, thanks

the new license fees in Utah is blackmail. i have 9 points. wonder how many are not going to apply because of the $60.00 license fee you don't get back. Any of you guys want a turkey i got them running around my house like chickens. Saw 8 gobblers in my driveway this morning strutting.

If I'm not mistaken Arizona has a system where if you buy the license you get bonus points, but you can choose not to buy the license and still get an application in for the drawings. Seems like most every state has its own system full of crazy rules. As soon as the public gets one kink out of the system, another one pops up.

smsnyder - if I can ever get my company to send me into your neighborhood, I'll have to take you up on turkeys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

no problem. i will show you were the eastern gobblers are for free. we have tons of turkeys here in pa. i say at least 20 gobblers strutting in the last few days.

Hey Ras, I can show you where you can get some turkeys. We actually have some in Brigham that have visited my parents yard a few times.

I've seen them up by Dock's Flat, but not near Brigham. Then there's the drawing problem. I had a permit last year on the Pahvant. Saw one jake, where usually there's lots of birds. Later, I had 3 gobblers talkin' until a pair of hunters rode their 4 wheelers right through the middle of things. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angry-smiley-055.gif

And now we've hijacked this thread. ...I'd rather go elk hunting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
