Utah Potguts

Here is a short video of me and the wife out shooting potguts a week ago. We usually go to Oregon this time of year to shoot sagerats but haven't been able too because of work obligations. After looking around quite a bit, I found a rancher that welcomed people to come down and shoot on his land. There were quite a few potguts and we shot until about 11 am when it got too hot. Thanks Bart for letting us come down and thin out your fields!!!

mn913, I suppose you could hunt em' with dogs. I would think they can dig faster then dogs though. Where I run my dogs there are a fair amount of ground squirrels, mice and other ground varmints. The dogs end up with a few but they usually catch them out of the holes. I run a cur cross and a border cross, so they aren't terriers but have plenty of prey drive.

Just thought it might be something fun for the dogs to catch while we wait for all the little coons and fox to grow up for the season! I live in west Jordan also, what ya hunt with your dogs? Not to thread jack here!!!

I use my dogs as decoy dogs for coyotes. I hunt em' year round and sometimes it helps and sometimes it hurts. More then anything they are companion dogs as they never have excuses when I want to go out hunting. They are alot of fun to hunt behind because all 3 of us are learning the decoy game and it's very rewarding when it all comes together.
