Utah Youth Hunt a Success!!

Finished up another Utah Trappers Assoc. youth hunt last night. It is amazing the number of happy kids you see there. I wish I had pictures from the banquet to show you. You wouldnt believe this thing! Al Morris was filming so maybe you will see it on one of his videos. Kerry Carver, Tom Austin and Randy Black were there also.

The Utah Trappers Assoc puts a lot of work into this to make it successful. I dont have a count, but I know there were over 200 kids at it ranging in age from 1 year old to 17 years old. Every one of them walks out of there with at least one prize.

Every kid from 1 to 5 years old walks out with at least 2
prizes each. They make sure that each child that is 17 years old leaves with a nice rifle since it is the last year they will be eligible for the prizes.

I dont get involved in helping with many things. This is one I will always support and help with collecting prizes. My daughter will not be able to participate any more in 2 years. I will continue to help and support this event as long as I can after that.

I would like to ask the members here to make sure you support the custom call makers of this forum. They stepped up and sent me calls, hats and lanyard as donations to this event. I will be thanking them personally and also thanking them in the hand calls forum.

Everthing is fine. Thanks for asking.

Had a great time last night. I've never seen such a large "camo convention." This has been our 3rd year participating. It's hard to describe the excitement in the air as 350-400 people gather at the end of the hunt for a nice meal and awards. I thought it was interesting that two of the older kids last night in the 11-17 age range had won their 4th rifle from this event. Another kid was on his 3rd rifle. That is amazing. We haven't been that lucky in 3 years, but we've had a ball and have 1 more year with my youngest turning 17 next Spring.

My son and I had a very great time With MikeyMike (my bro) and his nephew that I meet for the first time. The hunting conditions were harsh and we got completely skunked as many others it sounded like but spending time with family and friends is what this event is all about. Already looking forward to next years hunt! Once my daughter heard how much fun we had I was told she will go next year and boy did that ever make me happy after the arguments about hunting we have had in the past. The gathering afterwards was great as mentioned above. All the fellow hunters there were very happy. I can't thank all that made this possible enough!!! I will do all I can to help get donations, and donate to this event next year.
Thanks again

Joe

As it was already mentioned, the wind had the coyotes all pinned down for the day. Out of 100 teams participating, only half a dozen coyotes were turned in. In spite of all that. We still had a riot.

My sniper son Race, took this tweety with the Browning Buckmark .22 cal. Look at that smile!

Race Austin, Hayden Marsh, and Ben Austin "Ballistic Ben" at the Utah Youth Coyote Hunt. Hayden, lucky little booger, won the Grand Prize. A stainless, fluted, Savage Model 12 in .22-250 cal. He just about passed out when they called his number. Awesome HUNT!

Race and Hayden are both exceptional kids. They are respectful to everyone they meet and get straight A's. Hayden has 100 percent perfect attendance all through his High School career. Being 17 years old, this was Hayden's last year to attend as a youth. I'm glad he won that gun. He deserves it!

Thanks to all that make this hunt what it is...
