Varget vs RL15

Doing some research on different forumns I read where one guy said Varget and RL15 are so close they could be interchangable. Are they really that much alike?

Varget is less temp. sensitive. In my past of reloading with any Reloader powder it seemed to not shoot that great when it was above 75 degrees.

Might want to give the new Alliant powder AR COMP a look as well. Very similar to Reloder 15 clean burning and temperature stable according to manufacturer.
I have used it in a couple of calibers with good results. Right now in .308 with 155gr Sierra HPBT it shoots good and speed is 2760fps from a 20 inch barrel.Small size extruded powder will work thru a thrower as well.

Also just a pinch faster then RL15. Pretty much the new and improved RL15 but won't replace RL15.

That is true in the 308, but it is NOT TRUE in the 223.
Dr. Denton Bramwell did a series of experiments on Hodgdon's "Extreme" powders.
They are LESS sensitive than some in the cartridge that they were designed for. They are no different, or WORSE than others, when used in a case they(the extreme properties) were NOT designed for.

Specifically to the question of RL-15 Vs. Varget.

The fact that they may or may not be close in BR is purely coincidence, as they come from different places and companies.

Varget is made in Austrailia. That is from the ADI plant, who is owned by Thales, a French Defense contractor.

RL-15 is made in Sweden. Is part of the Eurenco layer, of Groupe SNPE; A French state-owned conglomerate.

So the French are at the bottom of this "conspiracy" huh?

I didn't know there was a conspiracy...?

IMR-4895 and H-4895 are SIMILAR, because they are going for the same market. Does a similar goal make them the same? No

My point was to clarify "who makes who", and they are not the same. Similar certainly can be.
