Varmint Masters BR Pivot Benches

The problem with benches are to bulky to transport, to heavy and you must still carry sand bags. those two guys laying in the grass can only see and shoot so far in tall grass. Furthermore, ants, ticks, snakes, nats will eat you alive laying in the grass or dirt. Buy a VRS Spec-Rest. You will be happy you did. $430.00. The VRS looks nice for standing and crouching, but the tripod legs look like they are in the way. The pics look like the lawnchair bunch are reaching pretty hard...
 
the VRS SPEC-REST is perfect for a fold out chair or standing. Most of us dog and groundhog shooters use it sitting in a chair. the legs do not get in the way. it has three legs and can be moved anyway you like. no reaching at all. once set up it is perfect. you can even shoot on a hill that has a steep angle. try that with a bench. The three of us are sitting in chairs behind the unit in the dvd. when we are ready to shoot , all we do is move the chairs up. I am so confident in this unit i am working out a money back garantee at the present time. I AM NOT SELLING THIS UNIT TO MAKE MONEY. IT IS THE BEST REST OUT THERE PERIOD.

If you aren't selling them for the money what you would be selling it for then.

Best rest would include a certain amount of economy. Arguably I made the best rest for my needs for less than $50 that requires the operator to be able to carry 22 lbs. The other $380 I will use for ammo....this weekend.
 
I see a lot of pictures of the product in use, but nothing showing materials, design features, etc unless I am missing something. Looks like cylinders to control movement. Friction or hydraulic? Lockable?

It's also tough to tell what comes with and what is optional.

I can see how a VRS or spec rest set up on a BR Pivot bench could be pretty neat...
 
let me correct that, i do make some money on the unit but not enough to make a living. i just believe in the unit. i tested the unit when it first came out and made improvements, i have a military long range shooting backgoround. this unit is the best. please review the dvd on our web site Lone Star Field Products.

....I'll admit. My BR Pivot "copy" is heavy. When we go P'doggin we generally set up and will shoot from the same spot most of the day, if not all day. Not like groundhogging where you shoot and run. "heavy" makes it solid though, and very solid it is. One Suburban, 4 guys, at least 1 dozen rifles, clothes, cooler, propane grill for lunch on the prairie, in the neighborhood of 10,000 rounds of ammo, 2 BR Pivot style benches, 2 Sinclair style bench rests, sand bags, bulls bags, couple spotting scopes, bincos, and assorted other gear.....so....those 2 benches dont take up too much space, and all this "stuff" inside the truck. We used a receiver hitch cargo box one year, and that was a hassle. Oh....and I have less than 100 bucks in the bench.(I do have a machine shop at home though)
 
TD, you just need to get a bench from CoyoteJakes. Save you some money and time. I have been shooting one for years and it is the best bench set up I have seen. Not hard to carry around as it comes in its own carry pouches, lightweight as possible and still work well, set up time is fast, it moves anyway you need it, and is rock solid. Heck, mine is even one of the old prototype models and use it about everyday.
 
tallgrass, i have the big shooter pivoting bench
and i'm very happy with it. as some have stated
these type of benches are kind of heavy but i think
it helps with stability. my brother lives in
minneapolis so i was able to save the shipping
cost. dave

They look well engineered like the BR Pivot, but are about $200 less



I've got one of the Coyote Jake benches that has been modified to use a folding boat seat. Some friends showed up last year with one of The Big Shooter benches and I was very impressed. The Big Shooter is very well built and a bit easier to adjust than my Coyote Jake.

Thanks for the replies. My BR Pivot Lite and carry bags came yesterday. Quite a well built piece and built to my standards which are quite high. A big investment no doubt, but it will last me a lifetime and since I can use it with my laptop, I can expense it. I feel it's in the same league quality and construction wise as my Sako 75.
 
the old benches built by Rick were great, the new ones from Caldwell are not as robust nor as well built with regard to the tolerances, I had an old one that a thief stole and thus I have a new one that is being rebuilt. The tops wobble, the mast wobbles, and the bolts were less than robust, way less, I used the original BR Pivot for 16 years, without issue, 3 months a year shooting sod rats, to the tune of 10K rounds a summer, it's sad to see such a quality product being sacrificed for $ and weight.

First welcome to PM! Second, I couldn't agree more with you regarding Rick's design. I would buy one today if I could.
 
For what its worth I bought this shooting bench from a man in SD when I was PD shooting this year.....got lucky he was getting out PD shooting ....bench and stool fold flat easy set up and take down very stable. He said that a cabinet maker in SD made it I think there marking on the bottom will take look today.

I built 4 of these about 18 years ago now.
Easy if you have a welder/tools on hand.
360* top swivel and chair/post 360* swivel.
Very nice to sit shooting p-dogs with a padded seat & back, about 60lbs total if that, breaks down for easy transportation.
Was about $60 for all for of them in metal, seats n junk.
