Vet wrap

I'm sure I have read about guys using this stuff hre in the past but a search turned up nothing. I know it sticks only to itself, but I wondered if there's any longterm effect with moisture? I'd like to wrap a couple guns and leave them wrapped for the season, but not if there's a chance of something rusting or warping. Maybe it would also depend on how thick you put it on?

I use it on my rifles, and so far have not had any problems. It is light weight, and also helps with the grip. Like said earlier, if it gets wet, just peel it off. It only costs $1.60/roll, so its cheap enough to waste a little.

That is same stuff that the Camo Form tape is made out of. The camo form says if it gets wet to be careful when using it on moisture sensitive areas such as metal and wood. If it gets wet you are suposed to take it off and let it dry.

I leave it on all season. Never had a problem. I suppose if it got rained on I would take it off. It's not going to break the bank to wrap it again.

It will leave a residue and cause the barrel to rust if you put it on there and it gets wet and you leave it on there long term. I put some on took it out it snowed put the gun away without thinking about it when it dried it left a really nasty almost impossible to get off residue.

Not necessarily. My wife uses a case or more a week. I have seen it "mend" itself to other tapes & bandages. Not common, but it does happen. I would suggest that you guys using Vet Wrap put on a layer of thin gauze before the application. It will help avoid any residue deposit if that concerns you. And if it gets wet I would suggest you remove it. Just words from experience..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
