Hello everyone,
Recently got my bonus at work and I'm ready to spend a chunk of it. I am looking for a scope for my 22-250 with a bit more magnification. Does anybody have any info or experience, good or bad, with the $279 viper from cameralandny? I am Kind of curious how they can sell a viper that cheap. I really want to try one but want to get some input before I do. I assume it should have as good or better glass than my vortex diamondback. Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i have one. my only complaint with it is the short eye releif. at that price point though it will be hard to beat, tracks good and pretty clear. i had it on my 6br for a while, ive dialed it out to 900yards and back and still be dead on.....its just that dang eye releif that sucks! but on a low recoil gun its no worries..

i went out on a limb when i ordered one. no regrets on it!

For $279 that Viper 20X ain't a bad scope. (My 3-9x40 was pretty awesome, actually, for the price)

That said, my 6.5-20x44 wasn't anything "special".

I found the glass to be pretty good, not great. However, I found the eye relief to be sorely lacking. Noticeably less than any of my other LR scopes. For a prone shooter, this is a problem.

Also the tracking was off. But not so much as that most shooters would ever even know it. An experienced LR shooter would know it, but not your average Vortex buyer/user/shooter.

For about the same price, I'd still rather have a Weaver Classic. Less weight, better tracking, as good or better glass/eye relief, IMO. They track, and shooters KNOW they track........

1/4 moa.......

Thanks for the info! Does the eye relief issue make it uncomfortable to shoot prone or is it just something to get used to? Thanks again!

Ive never had a problem with eye relief on my 6.5x20x44, I have the BDC reticle not the vplex.

I bought mine over at the optic zone. they usually have a discount code listed on the hompe page.

I think it is going to be very hard to find a better scope for the money. just my $0.02

I got my Viper when they were selling for $400 so I'm in the hole already. Its a good scope, not a great scope. I have no problems with it but do agree with everyone, eye relief sucks. Mines on a small caliber so I don't have to duck the scope from recoil. Would I buy another, ya probably so. Like 2much said, the Weaver is a proven track winner and will serve you well.

I have to agree on the warranty! Does the glass stay real clear at high mag or does it start to blurr?

Also, what 30mm rings do you all recommend? I have warne 1" maxima rings on the gun now and thought about going with those or Burris signature in 30mm. Open to suggestions though, but don't wanna pay over $75 for rings. Thanks again for all the info!

The best customer service is the CS that you do not have to use.

It seems Vortex has excellent CS, but it also seems like it is needed an awful lot to me.......JMO.......

I have used the Burris Xtreme tactical style on a couple of rigs with no complaints. Vortex also makes some just like them. I believe I paid under $50/set for all 3 sets. 1-2 required light lapping......

My more expensive guns that I actually "shoot for dough" with, have Badgers and Mark 4s on them. However, these rings seem to work just fine and the price is right.........
