I recently bought one of these scopes used but like new. How can I tell if this scope is CDS capable? The number on the box is 66485. Also, it did not come with a scope cover so I looked into buying one yesterday from Midway but there are many sizes to choose from. Any idea which cover/coat would fit this scope? Any of you have this scope? If so how do you like them? Thanks

There's a thread 4 topics down discussing this very scope.

Call Leupold about the CDS dials, they can help you with those.

For the scope coat, midways site has length dimensions under the product description.

I did read the other post but thats a 40mm. I did not want to hijack that post so I posted some questions here. I will go back and look on Mid ways site, I did not notice the lenth dimensions. I did send Leupold a message yesterday asking if this scope has all of the same features of the new ones being sold today. Thanks

So, what are the advantages or disadvantages of a 30mm tube vs 1in tube?

There's really no downside to a 30mm tube as it has a side focus and near twice the internal adjustment as the 1" tubed model. The bigger difference on the LR model lies between the 40mm and 50mm objectives. The 50 is no brighter, costs more and has to be mounted higher... All negatives IMHO...

SF and more adjustment .

The advantages of the 30 mm tube are in its internal adjustment, 113 moa of elevation vs 64 on the 1" tube. Hence the LR (long range) designation on the 30mm model. Also, it has a side focus.

Disadvantages to the 30mm model, if you want to find some, would be it costs more, weighs 2.5 oz more, and would require a new set of rings if you don't have a 30mm set on your rifle.

You can get all these specs on Leupold's website, and view all their available models.

*edit, what Tim said^^^^^^

I have a 40mm objective and a 50mm objective in this model. I actually mistakenly ordered the 50mm from Optics Planet....when it arrived, I decided to try it out. I could still use medium rings on my Cooper .20 VT no prob. Low rings are too low for me no matter the objective. Surprisingly, the field of view of the 50mm was obviously better. Kinda nice while glassing for squirrels. Like ‘em both, but I wouldn’t vilify a 50mm objective.
