Ok fishermen, what wading boots do you prefer? I’m plan on just wading in shorts during the Summer months, which leads to another question…has anyone tried Backcountry Skinz? I’m looking at stocking foot waders, but undecided at this time. My issue is I’m vertically challenged and you have to go EXPENSIVE to find waders that fit. Even the smalls in most waders have a 32” inseam.
A lot of questions I know, but I’ll listen to all and any advice.
 
Mark, no experience with Backcountry products. When it's hot enough here to wet wade I'll wear shorts, heavy socks and my wading boots. Early and late season it's stocking foot waders and boots. My preferred are Simms. Pricey I know but they last years and Simms stands behind their products.
 
GOOGLE> waders for short guys, might be able to come up with something there.
My favorite stocking foot waders were Cabela's waist high 3mm neoprene waders, OF COURSE, since Bass Pro took them over, they are no longer available!
Might also look into woman's waders, they are normally shorter than men's waders.
 
Walmart cheap "Tenny Runners" have been working for me for 70yrs. I buy them 2 or 3 sizes large to go over neo stocking foots. I did try some lace up wading boots but found them too stiff, someone used to make a olive drab canvas wading boot(Converse) that inspired me to go back to TRs. Back when I was a kid and old pair of gym shoes(TRs) kept the rocks from cutting up my feet.

I have looked at some of the neoprene flats boots in the past. Some me states no longer allow felt soles.
 
I use sock foot chest waders even in shallow water. Be warned - any waders can cause a problem when filled with water! I have some canvas boots (felt sole is no longer legal in most states) and a pair of hard sole water boots. I've only waded Taney Como behind the powerhouse though. Shallow with a few deep holes. Too old to do that safely anymore.
 
As a Simms "brand ambassador" I'm somewhat obligated to suggest them. But having said that they have a great line up of boots, from entry level to guide level. Forget felt soles, they are old technology, go for the Vibram instead.
