The Justice Department will be monitoring polling activities in Milwaukee during the recall election of Republican Governor Scott Walker on Tuesday. According to a DOJ press release:

WASHINGTON – The Justice Department announced today that it will monitor elections on June 5, 2012, in the following jurisdictions to ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and other federal voting rights statutes: Alameda, Fresno and Riverside Counties, Calif.; Cibola and Sandoval Counties, N.M.; Shannon County, S.D.; and the city of Milwaukee.

The Voting Rights Act prohibits discrimination in the election process on the basis of race, color or membership in a minority language group. In addition, the act requires certain covered jurisdictions to provide language assistance during the election process. Fresno County, Riverside County and the city of Milwaukee are required to provide assistance in Spanish. Cibola, Sandoval and Shannon Counties are required to provide language assistance to Native American voters. Alameda County is required to provide language assistance to Hispanic, Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipino voters.

Under the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department is authorized to ask the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to send federal observers to jurisdictions that are certified by the attorney general or by a federal court order. Federal observers will be assigned to monitor polling place activities in Shannon County based on the attorney general’s certification and in Alameda, Riverside and Sandoval Counties based on court orders. The observers will watch and record activities during voting hours at polling locations in these jurisdictions, and Civil Rights Division attorneys will coordinate the federal activities and maintain contact with local election officials.

Not a big surprise Huh? Democrats are screaming because of reports of robocalls telling people that if you signed the petition you don't need to vote. If that's true, and I doubt it, how's your own medicine taste, you friggin idiots. Walker must be figured to win by zero because he's down playing it. lol

White House: Wisconsin results mean nothing for November
(Definition: Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, I am the great and powerful OZ!)

The White House is bracing for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to hang on in Tuesday's recall election— denying that the contest portends anything for President Obama's chances in November.

"A race where one side is outspending the other by a ratio of at least 8 to 1 probably won't tell us much about a future race," press secretary Jay Carney said.

"I know the president is aware of the election. I think he's got some other responsibilities," Carney said. "I know that he's not following it minute by minute ... You know that he tweeted about it earlier. He stands with the Democratic candidate, Mayor Barrett, in this race."

Still, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina listed Wisconsin as a toss-up in a video message to supporters this week — even as the campaign has limited Obama's involvement in the polarized recall election that seeks to oust Walker over his anti-labor legislative push last year.

That's one step forward. Maybe this is a catching trend. The budget must be balanced, jobs must be kept and grown. Both promised, both done

Hmm, no comments from our lib members yet. Not a surprise I guess, like their hero, they're probably starting the grieving process.

Wisconsin's Walker survives recall by wide margin

Published June 05, 2012

FoxNews.com

Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker survived his recall election Tuesday, capping months of acrimony in the state that began when the first-term governor and Republicans in the state Legislature rolled back what they considered excesses in the collective bargaining agreements of public-employee unions.

The Republicans argued the move was a necessary part of their efforts to cut Wisconsin’s estimated $3.6 billion budget shortfall. Democrats and union leaders accused them of overreaching.

On Tuesday, an overwhelming majority of Wisconsin voters concluded that the complaints against Walker were not enough reason to oust him midterm.

Walker was leading Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett 58 percent to 41 percent with 65 percent of the 3,424 precincts reporting, according to the Associated Press.

"Voters really do want leaders who stand up and make the tough calls," Walker said in his victory speech, to chants of "Thank You Scott."

He also thanked people for their prayers, promised to meet soon with state lawmakers and urges residents to come together.

"Now is the time to move forward," he said. "Tomorrow we are Wisconsinites. ... But bringing the state together will be tough. There's no doubt about it."

Barrett, who also lost to Walker in 2010, struck a similar note.

"To those of you who fought and stood out in the cold to obtain (petition) signatures to do what you thought was right, never stop doing what is right," he said. "Now we must look to the future."

Wisconsin went for President Obama in 2008, but the recall results give Republicans hope that their presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, can win there in November.

The outcome Tuesday is also a blow to the labor movement, which poured considerable resources into the failed effort to remove Walker.

Of the three recall elections of governors in U.S. history, only Walker has survived.

Walker’s lieutenant governor, Rebecca Kleefisch, also was projected to survive her recall election.

The recall effort started about a year and a half ago, after the legislature passed Walker’s proposal to curb public employee union power, while also requiring most public state workers to pay more for health insurance and pension benefits.

Democrats and unions argued the governor had gone too far, and they helped organize massive statehouse protests and gather 900,000 signatures for the recall vote.

Roughly $63 million was spent on the race, with much of Walker’s support coming from outside of the state.

The Republican Governors Association spent $1.5 million in a last-minute, get-out-the-vote effort. However, most voters seemed to have decided long before Election Day.

Democratic groups -- including those funded by unions, the Democratic Governors Association and the Democratic National Committee -- poured in about $14 million, based on a tally from the government watchdog group the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. Barrett's $4.2 million in donations were mostly from inside Wisconsin.

The race attracted some big names on both sides. Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie appeared on behalf of Walker, while former President Bill Clinton came out for Barrett in the race's final days.

The impact of the vote is expected to carry into the November elections.

“I congratulate Scott Walker on his victory in Wisconsin,” Romney said. “Governor Walker has demonstrated over the past year what sound fiscal policies can do to turn an economy around, and I believe that in November voters across the country will demonstrate that they want the same in Washington.”

Though Romney visited the state with Wisconsin GOP Rep. Paul Ryan earlier this year, President Obama did not travel to Wisconsin to campaign for Barrett, though he tweeted his support Monday night.

Since taking office, Walker has reduced the state budget and seen a drop in the state's unemployment rate.

Walker, the 44-year-old son of a minister, remained unflappable throughout the campaign, as he was during the massive protests that raged at the Statehouse for weeks as lawmakers debated his proposal.

Along the way, he has become the most successful fundraiser in Wisconsin politics, collecting at least $31 million from around the country since taking office.

Walker wasn’t the only politician up for recall Tuesday. In addition to Kleefisch, three Republican state senators also face recall votes. A fourth state Senate seat will be determined after the Republican incumbent resigned rather than face the recall.

about 45 minutes to vote, where it a typical election it
wold have been maybe 5 minutes if I hit a bad time. And many

I don't know about the rest of the United States, but this

a bit fresher. There is hope we can turn this mess around.

I love moments like this. The liberals break down and show their true nature. I'm having a blast this morning watching all the videos of the ranting and raving liberals crying on camera. Drudge has a link to a website showing hundreds of death threats against Walker that have been tweeted. It is hilarious. The moonbats are in a frenzy.
