want to buy an ar for hunting

I have about 1400$ to spend on a gun I am looking from something in 6mm 6.5 7mm-08 308 I dont want to build one first i dont have the patience i want to be able to pick it up and go deer hunting i am looking at an ar style gun do to nerve damage in my back it cases weaknesss in my arms and hands making working a bold tough at times to work a bolt. any reconditions on who to talk to. I am looking for a fairly accurate gun would like sub moa -moa the few off the shelf ARs i have fired were fun but accuracy was that great. also if any one might know were i could buy a remington r-15 r-25 in a .30 i would buy it but i cant seem to find one if anyone knows a shop that has one can you pm em I want the ar but will take the remington sorry for the horrible spelling for those of you who dont know me i am dyslexic and i was hit in the head in Iraq and lost most my memory and have almost no short term memory making learning how to write vary hard so just sorry if the post is confusing
 
I am going to add a Rock River LAR8, AR in 308 in the near future, to go with my 2 Rock River AR15's. Very good rifles, great accuracy, decent price. Forgot to add I am looking at the Varmint A4 model.

I would recommend a light weight ar15 from alexander arms chambered in 6.5 Grendel. Very light, very low recoil, and the balistics of a 308. The round is getting very popular so new factory ammo is being released everyday at reasonable costs. Let me know If you are interested. AA dealer, and we build as well.
 
Gunbroker frequently has an R15 chambered in .30 Remington.They aren't showing up as often as they used to but they are there.

Talk to Rit h at Ritch's Precision Guns he can build you one that would basically be ready to go and would be sub moa I would say to go with a .243lbc or 6.5 Grendel or a 6.8.
 
If you have an Academy store near you, they have the DPMS Sportical LR308 on sale for $699. It has a 16" barrel and collapsible stock. I just got one a couple of days ago, and I really like it and think it is just right for an ar style hunting rifle.Accuracy is pretty darned good too. It doesn't come with sight, but your $1400 budget should get you a rifle, a nice scope, and plenty of ammo.
 
i was leaning towards a dmps they are in my price range i dont want to spend all 1400 on just a gun i would like to spend as little as possible i am not an AR fan brings back to many mameorys of Iraq and the 3 years i spent there I have not read to many bad reviews on any ar yet it seems they are all pretty well built these days it just comes down to how much you want to spend and i just want it for hunting deer nothing els

what are your groups like at 100yrd

what are your groups like at 100yrd With Winchester factory 150gr sp "Hog" ammo groups were about 1.25" to 1.5". With hand loaded 165 gr Sierra GK's over Varget, 5 shot groups were all under 1". Testing was done on a bench using bags, front and rear. One thing I forgot to mention about the gun is that the trigger is typical standard AR. It sucks.
 
I forgot to add that the hand loads used in testing my rifle were not optimized for my gun. They were my sons pet .308 win load of 44.5 gr of Varget with 165 and 168 gr Sierra bullets. A little fine tuning might make them better, or maybe not.

+1 ... I have a custom 6.8spc and its truly a fine cal. It has a cmmg lower, and a yhm upper,along with a bison 22" 1:11 twist ss brrl. It shoots moa or better with my 2 handloads. 95 gr barnes tssx`s and nosler 110gr accu bonds.Good gun for alot of things.Deer. hogs,& zombies.Recoil is very managable and is a joy to shoot. Gary

My vote is to stay with the AR15 platform and go for 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel in 18" or 20".
Get a real good scope too.
Plenty energy for our American game.
 
Give Predator Technology Group an email. Jason was great to deal with and will get you set up. 6.5 Grendel will work great. I have my rifle set up the way I want with a 3.5x10 vx3 for just under 1400.
 
Ive been deer/hog/coyote hunting with a 6.8 for several years now. And after working on a DPMS 16" 308 for my boss i like my 6.8 alot more. Its lighter and less recoil. Still no problem for Mississippi deer out to 425 yards so far with 120gr SST.
