WANT TO BUY Kimber Montana in .204 Ruger or Maybe in .223 Remington

I didn't realize Kimber had made the Montana in .204 until seeing some posts on here, but I actually tried to get one ordered years ago to no avail. If anyone has one for sale or knows where there is one for sale I'm ready to try one. My 700 factory Sporter weighs 9.6# loaded with scope and sling, and I want to get the Montana for an all day walking rifle.

The mountian assent is even lighter.
BUT the barrel is SO thin after the second shot in a row the heat makes it shoot like a shotgun pattern.
 
Unfortunately, the 6.5 CM is about the smallest cartridge that the Mountain Series of rifles are produced in. No 204 Ruger or 223 Remington options available per the Kimber web site. IIRC, the Pro Varmint rifle is the only rifle in those two chamberings. The standard Varmint rifle is also chambered in 204 Ruger.

As for lack of accuracy, I have a friend who owns a Mountain Ascent Subalpine in 280 Ackley Improved that keeps three closely placed shots inside of an inch at 100 yards. True that they do have a light barrel, but I've never seen or owned a Kimber that shot patterns like a shotgun as some people claim that they do. If one does shoot poorly, its probably a magazine box issue hitting on the stock which five minutes of mild sanding will usually fix. Either that or a gorilla torquing the action screws down.

Have you looked at the savage model 16 lightweight hunter? Theyre a discontinued model, but there are still some available in .223 on buds. Theyre 5.5 lbs and really [beeep] accurate. I have one in .243 and was so impressed with it i bought another in .308. Would really like to get a .223 also while theyre still available. And the 16lwh has an 8 twist, unlike all the new savage .223s are a 9 twist. With my .308 and a 3-9x33 vx2 ultralight scope shooting factory ammo my first 4 shot group at 200 yards was just under 1/4". Pretty awesome to have a gun that shoots like that and weighs in just a hair over 6 lbs, gun, scope, rings and brake.The .243 shoots [beeep] near as good. I would expect the same from the .223.

Just my thoughts, theyre awesome super lightweight guns, cant recommend them highly enough.


Edit: just looked at buds theyre out of stock. Guess i waited too long.

I sincerely appreciate all the advice on other stuff, but I'm an FFL dealer and have hunted the online market hard for what I'm after. I came up with a Kimber Montana in .204 as best option for me years ago, and now recently after going through the search of options available now, I'm right back where I started. I'm looking for a Kimber Montana in .204 Ruger or .223 Remington or BOTH.
