warne ultra high vs armalite mount??

I can't decide if I should use warne ultra high rings or the armalite mount when I put my AR together. The only thing with the warne rings is that they will not allow me the flexability to move the scope as far forward as I would like and maybe not as high, the warne rings are .935 high from base to bottom of the ring, how high is the armalite in comparison, and how much more forward does the armalite mount allow you to go??

Leupold 3.5-10x40 with Armalite mount on Armalite AR. The bottom of the 1" scope tube is about 3/4" above the rail mounted.

Steve,
Here are two other options for you to check out:

I have a LaRue Tactical QD mount on my Dtech upper that works beautifully and I highly recommend it, especially with a long eye relief scope like Leupold.

Another option to explore is one I found here in PM.
I had a pair of Bushmaster 1/2" mini risers from another upper that I separated out to use for the rear ring base. mini risers
For the front ring base, I purchased this rail: front rail extension
It allows you to mount your front ring out over the handguard thereby giving you some more flexibility in the eye relief dept. Both the rear riser and rail extension are made by Yankee Hill Machine and are the same exact height so they match up perfectly.

I used this combo with a pair of Warne low rings on my 25WSSSSSSMMMM upper to get a great mounting height & eye relief with a Burris FFII 4.5-14x42 AO

I'll take a pic & post it to show you & thanks to the member who shared the info beforehand!

Steve,
If you look at my post, 17 Rem. AR-15 Ready for war, about 4th page firearms section, you can see the set up knock'emdown refers to on my rifle with set of high QD Warne rings. Same setup I did on my Bushy Varminter. The biggest advantage to this over a one piece mount with the QD rings is more support out front for longer scopes during chuck or p-dog season.

I recommend the Armalite one piece mount also. Both of my AR's have them and the .204 has a Leupold Long Range 8-20x 30 mm scope. I've taken it pdog hunting a couple of times and have no problems with eye relief.

Armalite. I had Warnes and they were nice but I didn't like the verticle split of the rings, it makes putting a scop in them kind of a chore compared to a horizontal split. I just switched to an Armalite mount and I'm very happy with it.There is definitely a large price difference though! I'll probably be posting the Warne high mount rings with a riser on the classifieds tomorrow so if you're intrested keep your eyes open.
