Warranty and customer service

What's the difference between the *vari-XII's* and the VXII?

One piece tube versus two piece with VXII being the one piece?

If it's a two piece tube, where are the tubes joined?

I know you have been pushing the Weavers pretty hard for a bit now. Tell you the honest truth I had a weaver on my 10/22 that lasted 2 years is all. I bought a bushnell banner and have had it ever since. The one weaver I did have was, I would not say better or worse as far as repeatability is concerned but the Bushnell is working the weaver was not so, not sure I will ever buy another weaver.

I know I hear so much about Leupy's warranty and if there are ever any troubles with the Nikon and their Leupy will probably get a shot next go. But on Cabelas.com 228 people rated the Nikon prostaff and gave it an overall 4.8 rating out of 5. 176( I think) some folks rated the Leupold 4.7 out of 5 stars all around. So do the math 50 more people bought the Nikon and they still have a higher rating. There were fewer 1 and 2 star marks with the Nikon than the Leupy so all in all for me the Nikon makes sense for what I can afford and want right now. ONE DAY I will be in a position to purchase a higher end Leupy or any other brand I want but for now the reviews and the light gathering of both with the amount of money I can spend dictate to me that the Nikon is best for me now. Maybe weaver will see business from me in the future but probably not. But if we are being practical here throwing rocks and flour at a scope makes me laugh. I know I am taking a bit of a chance with Nikon and them having a little less reliable customer service department and if I get beurned that is on me. But Nikon is brighter in low light I get a 12 power scope not a 9 power like the Leupy and it is going to cost me $60 less. Burn me once and the damage is donw won't purchase from them again, so I will throw caution to the wind.

Thanks for all the input guys and I am disappointed that it came to a pissing match and people calling others liars. Later and out.

The tube is joined by 2 internal screws on the bell end after the MOA adjustment knobs. I do realize the probability of actually breaking one or bending it may be real small, but 2 pieces I believe makes the probability go up significantly. I am sure Leupy will fix it no problem that does not help you while out in the field if it is broken.

No, it doesn't, but I'm done tryin to change your mind. Any force strong enough to separate the 2 tubes would undoubtedly damage a one piece tube also.......

I can't believe it!!!!! CWeeks is still in the house. Nice to see that you are still around buddy, how is everything going up in Idaho?

R Dogg how you doing? I am still in Idaho the blessed land of my growing up. Good to see you around also. The wife and I opened our new business plus I am still working my counseling job on the side 40 hours a week so I AM BUSY. Later man.

While I have never had to send a Burris back, I have sent back one Leupold. I called them several times with questions and they were very patient. I wanted a reticle changed.

If you check the thread on the Burris Eliminator scope on this list, you see that many questions were not answered. Try sending an Email to Burris Customer Service or call and you get about the same.

Leupold if it costs 200 more is the better deal.

I bought a Bushnell Trophy illuminated 1x4x30 scope a while back.

It was a discontinued scope but I liked it so much I snapped up a 1.5x6x30 trophy Illuminated reticle scope as soon as I saw one come up for sale. Mounted it in Burris Pepr mount. After about 120 rounds the reticle turned in the scope. Think + turning to x. I sent the scope back to Bushnell. After two weeks I called and found that my scope was waiting to be evaluated, another week, that they would call or email me. Never heard anything for two more weeks, then two days ago the UPS man drops off a new Millet 1x4x30 illuminated reticle scope. No explanation just a paper saying no charge. It's ok, I like the reticle on the Millett, just wish I would have had some feedback. Kinda wanted the 1.5x6 scope back. At least it was replaced.

Wow. That is not only weird, but unacceptable IMO.

I broke an IR Bushnell Trophy scope in 7 shots on my 444.

Leupold called me today. "We received your scope today and understand you want a reticle change and M1s added. Just calling to let you know that it is here, and that we are ready to go about the changes as you wish. Any problems, give us a call........." THAT is what I'm talkin' about........

Nikon has treated me right in regards to any returns and was fairly quick. I have broken a few pairs of binoculars in the past 15 yeras and they repaired them fairly quickly with no charge best I can remember.

Carl I decided on a Nikon after all was considered, Nikon seemed to offer me the most for the price. So far I think the choice was a great one.

I got a chance to call Bushnell today and ask them about my scope. I told the girl that I had been told I would get a call or email after my scope was evaluated but that I was sent another, different scope with no contact. She said they would have contacted me, I told her they did not. She told me the trophy scope I sent in was out of production and they sent me a scope that retailed for more than the one I sent. She also stated that the scope was not in warranty. I asked why not, even if it was discontinued, it was bought brand new and was only about a month old. She couldn't explain why it was noted that it was not in warranty, that was what was noted. I told her that I have two more, recently purchased Trophy scopes, were they out of warranty also? I then asked what was the warranty and she said limited lifetime warranty. She then asked if she could help me with anything else, I told her no, she hadn't answered anything yet, so no.
I am not trying to bash Bushnell here, I really like my other Trophy scopes, they are very clear and bright. But, I wish they would have spoken to me, and I am not sure why they couldn't fix the scope I sent in to them, or why it was not in warranty.
I will give the Millett scope a chance, I have just the rifle for it. I will try to get it mounted tomorrow for a picture.

I heard too many similar things about Bushnell and had a poor experience with them so I decided to stay away from their products. I had a $170 4X scope from my father's good buddy who no longer needed it I put it on my Ruger 10/22 and within 2 years it broke I called to find out what the warranty was and they told me that they did not carry the scope anymore and they would not cover it under warranty. Not sure what model it was it was 12 years ago or so.

I think that everyone on these sites who love to shoot and hunt as much as we all do.... deserve to once in their live spend the money it takes to really get an expensive high end scope on their favorite rifle.
Just plan and save ,trade , whatever til such a purchase comes within reach.I have owned all the junk right up thru the NF ,Zeiss and SB, but again and again I shoot my vx3 or a Mark 4 or something else near it and end up saying these are a really good piece of glass and I really like shooting them , but it just isn't the same .The differences are very sutble but are there. It may take thirty years as it did me but was worth it. There are so many scope manufacturers and so many offerings that make it very competitive, and if you have a product more expensive than another it has to be better or guys like the ones on these forums are going to converse and figure it out. Happy shooting.

I know I promised a picture a long time ago, but just got the Millett mounted. I put this on a new rifle trying to keep the weight low for carrying.

The Millett seems ok, the IR is brighter than the remaining Bushnell Trophy scope I have. I'll shoot it awhile and see how it holds up.

I have Leupold, nikon, burris, etc and "cheap scopes". My bench rest rifles have leupolds. Hunting rifles have Nikon and the cheap scopes are just sitting here taking up space. I guess I choose the scope according to the use of the gun. I have had good luck with this process so far.
