Where the Red Fern Grows has been my fav. movie since I first saw it when I was a teenager. It's a good family movie to boot.

Growing up at home we always had coon houds and really my only memories with my father are when we were out running hounds on some creek bottom.

I wasn't 10 minutes into the movie before I had a tear in my eye. Very good.

If some of you have never watched it before I really recommend it. It will be at the movie store in the 99 cent section, (most good movies can be found in this section).

Yup, Couldn't believe it when Yeller got gored by the wild hog. I cried, I remember. I must have had a great imagination too -- scenes from some of the books I read are more vivid than even scenes from those great old movies.

Good movies made today are scarce as hens teeth.

The wife and I have been married 31 years and have gone to a movie maybe 5 times. Haven't missed a thing.

It is a tear jerker. I read it every couple years. Only seen the movie once years ago. The book is a zillion times better. Read the book, the movie don't compare.

I have only seen one movie that was better than the book. The reason being that it was a movie first and then a book. I read a lot of books and see a lot of movies as I only do TV with rental stuff. I average 6 books and 5 movies per week.

The worse book was "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe." Actually it was originally an English TV series at first.

was the movie you watched the the old one? I saw on tv there is going to be a new Where the red Fern Grows coming out.
I read the book years ago And when I saw the movie I was disapointed. It didnt realy portray the desire and love he had for hunting like the book did.
I think I should have been the director lol. Then it would be a miny series Like Lonesome Dove.
