I have a Ruger 77/22 that started life as a .22 magnum, but now wears a Green Mountain .17 HMR barrel with a 4-12x Bushnell Rimfire Optics scope. It is my go-to for such work. If I want to go up the power scale a bit but remain frangible I pull out the Marlin 1894 in .218 Bee.
