Weatherby Vangaurd Varmint Special .223

I found a this gun at my local gunshop today for $545.00 and was wondering if this is a good deal. I was also wondering if anyone has shot this gun before and what are your opinions on it. I posted this on the firearms page but I didn't have any replies so I thought maybe you predator hunter knew a lil something about it. Thanks

I retired my Winchester Model 70 Varmint model due to the Winchester fiasco, and got a Weatherby package gun in .223. Has a Bushnell Banner 3X9, and got it for $525 at my dealer.

It is very accurate, MOA accuracy at 100 yards. Not much to look at with the 'Tupperware' stock and all, but I am not concerned with looks in the field.

Does what I need it to do on coyotes, and does it efficiently!

I've got a Weatherby Vanguard in .300wby and it works fine. Its no Mark V but does what I need when I need it. Dang shells are HIGH tho. I'd trade it for a .300 win, but only 'cause of the ammo $$$.
 
Thanks guys for the info. I had a Vangaurd in 300 Win Mag and it was a great gun, wish I wouldn't have traded it. I just didn't know about the 22" barrel on the Varmint Special. But I like the stock(not the common black tupperware stock)on the varmint models. I think I might go ahead and get the .223 and I will let everyone know how it shoots. Thanks again.
 
I HAVE 2 HOWAS THEY HAVE VAVGARD ACTIONS ON THEM 3 BULLET HOLES TUCHING AT 158 YARDS NOT ALOT OF MONEY 460.00 PACAGE BUT IM NOT WORID ABOUGHT ROUGHING THEM UP AND I CAN THINK ABOUT CALLING.TLB

I have been looking at the Weatherby Vangaurds also in .223. I would like to get a Savage, but don't like the blind box magazine that most Savage .223's seem to come with.

I looked at the same rifle you are interested in at Sportsmans Warehouse and it was about the same price. However, the guy at the counter pulled out the W.V. Sub MOA Varmint rifle. It has a floated barrel and a vented stock. They had it priced for $743. Both rifles are nice. If you get that one let me know how it handles. You might just make my decision for me.
