Just bought one of the above for my new Stag A3. I have owned the same scope but in 2.5-10x56 in the past and it was a very nice scope. Anyone tried the 1.5-4.5 on an AR yet?

I have tried 1x4's..... A LOT.

I love them and you probably will too unless you are shooting prairie dogs at 500 meters. Any normal target under 400'ish should be yours.

I had one on mine a while back, awesome scope.

I bet it would work pretty well. I just switched over to a Weaver 1-3x and I REALLY like it!

The glass on all the weaver classic extreme scopes is superb,i have owned several of them .They are a heavy scope though.I didnt think my 16" AR was capable of the 100 yard groups i shot that day with the weaver scope i had mounted,i sold it shortly after and i kind of regret it.

You sacrifice some ability to shoot groups with low power magnification. My 6x45 will shoot under a 1/2" with a 12x but I have gotten several groups under and inch with my new Weaver on 3x. Both my mounts are good enough quality, I think I might be able to swap them and maintain proper POI. I have a Weaver V3 in a Burris PEPR, and a Nikon 3-9 Buckmaster in a RRA cantilever. I'm thinking about getting my Nikon 3-9 Buckmaster sighted in on my 6x45 also and then switch out the two scope/mounts as the situation dictates.

My Weaver will be mounted in a one-piece JP mount. I have had all the AR style mounts and except for the JP not having the quick release feature it is as nice as the Larue mount I had. This will be a medium range gun as where I hunt 300yds would be the extreme max range which is why I am wanting a 6.8 SPC for deer hunting. No need for big long-range magnums in my area.
