weaver polar scope caps

I picked up a weaver, (nitrex) TR1 6-20x50 a while back that came without any caps. It's a great scope but after looking around for caps for it i just wasn't able to find any caps that would fit the front objective.

So i bit the bullet and ordered weaver polar caps from optics planet. I'm not much on flip up caps and simply wanted something to keep the gunk out while hunting.

I have to say they are pretty good caps and after putting them together, i think they will work great. They come with two different lense's (gray and yellow) and after getting both layers of protective covering off them they went together easy and look like they will work fine.

The rubber slip over body fits very snug over both the eye piece and the objective, and the flip up cover works well. (Still don't like flip ups), but thats just me. If your having a problem finding caps to fit a lense look at weavers chart, they might have what you need.
 
They are better than the butler creek to me, but that may just come down to a which one you like thing.

I ended up getting them because i couldn't find anything else to fit the objective bell, i glad now i did. That soft rubber body their made of fits like a suction cup and two different color lenses for each end is a plus as well.

Argh! one of the releases (yellow dohicky) on mine broke when I picked it up to install. The other one worked ok although when I push the release it sometimes needs a little help to open.
 
Dave, the yellow dohicky broke on one of mine, and mine usually need help to open AND to close.
I think the hinge is better than the Butler creek, and the soft rubber fits the scope better, but that's about it.

Well I know somebody who's aunt used to date a guy who was friends with the sister of a guy who was prostaff for a company that had some predator show that Nightforce sponsored ..... I will not rest until I have a new YELLOW DOHICKY!!!

There's no reason why a better more durable flip open caps arn't available, I like using the flip up caps but they are just too tedious & fragil.
 
Well so far i guess i'm the lucky one then, time will tell. Like i said on the first post i'm not a fan of flip ups, just got them to keep the crud out.
 
The Weaver/ ATK customer service guy's are great. I called 800-635-7656 and they sent both of yellow dohicky pieces no charge!! It took a little over week to arrive.
 
To follow up I called Nightforce for a new scope cover and it arrived today.
I CALLED WEDNESDAY! Wow!!!!! Now that's CS!!!! Two days that is incredible considering its Christmas.
